I went back to the girlie dr today, after being called last week to be told that i had to come in and get my test results, so i have been stressing like crazy since last wednesday thinking i had deadly girlie part cancer or something.  I mean, come on, with my medcial history what else could it be???
Anyway, turns out its just a basic infection, sort of like a yeast infection only with a much longer name, lol.  Had to come in to get a script., now why they couldnt tell me that over the phone, i dont know.
Anyway, the dr asks me if i am familar with flagyl, and i said, uh yeah i had UC for 8 years i know all about that nasty stuff.
he laughed and said well you just take one really high dose and its stays in your system.  So i asked if it was an extended release pill because i cant take those.  And he says, no it just stays in yoru system a long time.  And i say, well i have an ostomy is that going to be a problem.  And he looks very shocked, and i can see his eyes scanning all over me, looking for hte bag, lol.  And he says, where is it?  In disbelief.  And i said, well its an ileosostomy and touched the area where it is.  He said he wasnt sure how that would work and i said, well my transit tiem is about an hour and that i usually cut my pills, and he is like no no you dont want to cut flaygly and i said no i know that. so anyway i got a cream
BUt i mean it just never fails to amaze me how, one noone can tell, evena dr, and also how even medical professionals know so little about ostomies and such.  And its not that they are stupid, its just that they dont deal with them on a regular basis and they dont learn abotu them either.
he was so cute, looking me over and over like that, not believing it was there, lol.

Funny how I feel like everyone is looking at the bulge in the pant or skirt. I know my friends have stared a few times in my bathing suit but I try to cover it with my arm or towel. Maybe I'm doing all that for nothing!!

funny summerstorm! my husband's cousin was over last sunday and said to me, "i've noticed how you always wear fitted clothing, where is your bag?" i laughed and pointed. i'm not a fan of t shirts and have kept most of the same clothing. i've only had to buy longer shirts, lol.

It's funny how our minds can play mean little tricks on us!  We can make ourselves feel self conscious about anything!

I agree! When I first got my ileo, I bought a bunch of those babydoll tops (the ones that flare out around the stomach and make you look pregnant) thinking that was all I was going to be able to wear. Well, the first time I tucked a form fitting shirt into a pair of jeans and the pouch was not noticeable, I was so pleasantly surprised!

Roliie~you'd be surprised, it just does. I don't wear LOW rise (I'm too old, lol), they're mid rise and I wear a belt. My output is mostly on the thick side, so I was a little worried, but it finds it's way smurf My appliance is just below my bellybutton so the belt does go across it...I'm not sure how it would work when the belt line is below the appliance...maybe someone has experience with that? I find that things are concealed better when my pants are tighter...if I wear a baggie pair I think things are noticeable, but it's probably me!! The best thing you could do is to take a bunch of pants into a changing room and try on all kinds of styles :-)

I wear low rise pants, and the pants hit a little below the top of the bag, and i tape thetop of my bag to my stomach, so it doesnt flop over.
But i dont really know how it works that the waste goes into the bag evenly when you are wearing tight clothes, but it does.

I have one pair of jeans that are called skinny jeans and they are tighter than anything else I wear and if anything they hold stuff in place and the bag, to my surprise, filled just fine. We are our own worst enemy sometimes I think...Nobody can tell, smell or feel what we do but we are hard on ourselves aren't we.

SOmething that seems to help me with tight clothes, btw, are these gel tabs, they thicken it up and make it kind of spread out better. its hard to get out, but worth it to me.
