So i have had my POUCH for about two and half years now, and so far i have not have a major leak...until today!
I changed my POUCH (tee hee vette guy!) after the shower it was about 1030 this morning and i was thinking, you know im glad i never have any output while i was changing.  Well i got done, with no output!  Came in here and was doing some stuff on the computer,  a little before 1130 i went to use the bathroom so i could go pick up my son at school i have to leave by 1150 but really need to leave at 1145 and when i went to empty i noticed that my underwear had this spot but i didnt smell anything.  Then i went to empty and there was poo everywhere!  luckily, the sure seal had kept most of it from runnign down my leg though!
So i jumped up, grabbed a new box of stuff and peeled the old set off, i have yet to figure out what happened, but there was poo all over under the wafer and of course the paste was still fresh so it was stuck to that!  ICK!!!
So i am also racing against the clock to get my kid too, and i never use adhesive removers but i had to get some out, and of course they are on the top shelf, so i am holding a rag over my stoma reaching up there to get hte box down.  Well as i am getting it down, i get a ton of comeplete water output!  the box cromes crashing down!  and igrab some more rags and put them on there too.
I get cleaned up, finally, took me forever!  im used to chaning after a shower and after the bag has been on for a while, so its clean under there pretty much.
Anyway, i got it all cleaned up and new stuff on and out the door at 1149!  And made it to school 1 minute late!!!
UGH what a mess!

Try not to get too paranoid about when the next (if at all) leak will occur.  The mind can play pretty mean tricks on us if we let it.  BTW, sorry about the leak.....but thanks for the "pouch" parts, lol!!!

Month four and I still have at least an accident a week. Paranoid feels like my middle name. Sometimes I can figure out why but not always. I'm am still trying every kind of system I can find. Most companies send two or three samples and seem very nice. Have more samples to try until I have to make a decision on what to stick with.

I have decided filters seem like a waste. When are they supposed to let the air out? I wake each night around 3-4am with pouch ready to explode if not emptied. One night I decided to wait too long and when I did get up and get to the toilet, the pouch popped off and everything went all over everywhere. After pouch disposed of, just jumped in the shower in my pajamas and got cleaned up. I try to take it in stride but sometimes in public where I have to leave, I get upset. No use I know, but I do it.

I'm always happy to hear how well others are doing.

Trigirl-Have you tried using paste with a convex insert?  I had a lot of leaks in the beginning, and it really took it's toll on my nerves.  Paste with a convex insert did the trick for me.  As they say...."every problem has a solution."    Give it a try.  You've got nothing to lose!!!

I use the convex plus an eakin seal and paste and sometimes I leak even with all in place. I have redundant skin and the shift of the skin makes it difficult. I've had my ileo since the end of June and I am finally getting better thank goodness. I can identify with the leakies and it is difficult when you have to make a quick exit. One thing I have learned recently or since the end of June and this may help when you are trying to get a wafer and pouch on a working stoma is to insert a very small tampoon into the stoma so you won't have to deal with the poo. I buy the OB tampoons cause they are little and it really works when you have to change because ileo said so instead of when you say so.

I am lucky that I don't have too many horror stories to tell, but have had a few. I think it is so important to have the right supplies.

Summerstom, Way to go; you beat the clock. It is TRICKY when it goes active and we are changing. Good thing you were able to change or your skin all under the wafer would have been burned!!!!!!! Auuuugh! Rosemary

Why does that stuff burn your skin so quick? When my seal breaks and I don't catch it fast enough I get the worst diaper rash.

Have such compassion for my grandchildren in diapers. Have a new one for this Christmas season how fun!!

Have tried convex wafers and they are so huge and weigh on my skin. I guess I didn't get leaks with them. Should pay more attention. I found them so uncomfortable I went on to other products, might have to go back and give them a second chance. They also increase waistline sizing, since my stoma is on pants line for lower pants. Way too fussy!!! LOL

i was just wondering myself why it burned you so fast.  I mean i guess i could see if you had eaten three pineapples it might be kind of acidic, but with just a normal diet i dont know.

Because, besides waste in your output, you also have enzymes and stomach acid in there....YUCH!!!
