Hi Everyone,
Yet another question....
What are some good tummy exercises we can do when we have a colostomy? Mine is on the lower left side. I've never had a "flat" tummy but would like to tighten up the muscles. I just had surgery on Nov.23 and have been switched to a concave device.
Thanks a bunch!

well its a little too early now for you to be doing anything.  it would probably hurt anyway, lol.
But i have done situps, and i was using this thing at the gym, when i was going. just go easy at first, and wait until its been about 2 months at least so that your inscision heals all the way.

I couldn't do much until 3 months and then I am still being careful.(Aug 4th, 09) Who wants to get a hernia!! Yikes.

Laying on your back, legs straight out, practice pulling the muscles down, into your back.
Laying on back, legs out, lift head and curl up just a little and then rest.
On side, elbow and knees on floor but hips up, and hold and then release.

Good luck. This whole adventure does give you a new lease on life, huh?
