the more you eat 'em, the more you toot...

okay, so the other night, my husband and I ate chili for dinner. he proceeded to toot all night long. the next morning, he took one whiff and asked me if my ostomy pouch had a leak. I said, sorry, honey, but you can't pin that one on me. nono

So what does it do to people with ostomies?

I haven't eaten them them since having one. Worried my pouch would blow up if I ate them.

That sounds just like a man...we had baked beans the other night and hubby wouldn't stop! BUT...we have a saying here 'love me, love my farts!'...of course this was from my pre-ostomy days:) but he tries to use it to his advantage!

Trigirl~actually, for me, they are wonderful! I've gone to mostly low GI foods and don't use anything to thicken my output anymore:) It's individual, but if you are feeling daring, start with a few bites and see how it goes:) (I do use an ostomy pouch with a filter)

Good idea, Summer! I do need to get him some Gas-X.

Trigirl, if there is any gas from eating beans, it stays in the pouch, so there's no odor.

Summer, I wish I could say the same.  Last night I had franks and beans as a snack while watching the Sopranos ("Santa" gave me the boxed set of the entire series for Xmas). All I can say is...thank goodness it's methane in my pouch and not helium....otherwise I would have started floating around my den, lol!

Seriously, I can't eat baked beans unless I'm at home.  Oh well!
