can you have a baby after j pouch surgery?

 hi everyone.
it's been over a year since my reversal and i was just wondering if anybody has had a baby after surgery?
 
it wouls be great to hear from someone.  tanx.......tc

Yes you can. You can meet a lot of women at www.j-pouch.org that have had children post surgery. There is a dedicated discussion thread of women and pregnancy.

dx proctitis in 1987
dx UC in 1991, was stable until 1998

1998 started prednisone, asacol, pentasa, nortriptylene, ativan, 6MP, rowasa enemas and suppositories, hydrocortisone enemas, tried the SCD diet, being a vegetarian, omega 3s, flax, pranic healing, yoga, acupuncture, probiotics

2000 lost all my B-12 stores and became anemic

2001 opted for j-pouch surgery- now living life med-free

you sure can! any surgery lowers your rate of fertitliy a tiny bit, but usually not enough to matter! You just may want to make sure you have your surgeon and OB in contact with each other during your pregnancy.
UC for 8 years, before finally kicking its butt and having a permanent ileostomy April 17 2007!
