Hi everyone !  I've read that full blockages are when you have no output, lots of pain and need to vomit.  But what about a partial?  OHIO76 posted on another thread about "partial blockages lasting about an hour" but how do you know when it has passed?   Since this morning I've had pain right in the stoma and it hurts if I even touch the ring around the flange.  My output is just like always, all liquid and I have to empty every hour because I drink a lot of fluids.  The only relief is when I walk around and if I sort of massage around the the base of the stoma outside of the perimeter of the flange, if that makes sense.  I'm also a bit swollen.   How do I know when to run to the doctor?   It figures.....I'm one week away from reversal surgery and I think I'm experiencing my first potential blockage in the 7 months I've had the darn ileostomy.   Any advice would be appreciated.  I've never had pain like this but it's not like I'm about to keel over.  Just worried.

aw sucks that its so close to your reversal! i was lucky to only have had one blockage. it was the day after i came home from the hospital. i had cocoa wheats that morning and the milk curdled up in my belly and blocked my stoma :O there was still some output but it felt like i was having a baby lol the pain came in contractions and i almost cried bc it hurt SO bad! id go to your doctor or at least give em a call just in case :) better safe than sorry

Thanks Bella!   Everything seems to have calmed down overnight.  I'm generally sore but don't have the pain I had yesterday.  I just had some hot soup (yes, for breakfast !!) and it hurried all the way through if you know what I mean.  I'm going to stick to liquids and light stuff like yogurt for a day or so and see if things get back to normal.   Still I don't know if I had a blockage and I certainly can't pinpoint when it passed.  Kind of freaked me out to be in so much pain.   Well, off to work :))   10 days to reversal...not that I'm counting.
