I've been doing pretty good these days (good for a Crohnnie, that is)... but this morning something strange happened. I was changing my wafer this morning and when i coughed i noticed a buldge that would suddenly appear above my stoma. It wasn't sore and it wasn't a big cough. When i pressed down on it, it kinda felt like i was pushing something back in. Maybe a little squishy feeling but i'm not sure if that's the right word for it. The bulge would reappear whenever i coughed or tightened my abdominal muscles. Anyway, that area is now covered by the flexible ring of the wafer, so i can't tell if it's still happening or not. Does this sound like a hernia to you? I've never had one before. I pray it's not. I also hope it's not an abscess or something horrid like that either!

Help!

Hi!  I have a hernia that developed after a major coughing spell.  I felt the muscle tear and it took my breath away.  It also is tender when food reaches that particular area.  That is my experience with a hernia and it doesn't sound like what you described.  Hope this gives you a little peace of mind. :-)
