Please can anyone give me some ideas on how to stop the red hot burning Im experiencing on my bottom, the pain can be overwhelming sometimes. devil As some of you know, I had the ileostomy reversal 5 weeks ago now. Im still really pleased I did it, but in the last week the sore bum started. Its got so bad now Im running out of ideas.
First I used a nappy cream the hospital sent me home with (doesnt work). Then I brought a stronger one called 'sudocrem' from the chemist (doesnt work). Then I brought an expensive spray from the chemist for piles (which I have not even got but the chemist said it would help but that doesnt work).Even painkillers have no effect. The only relief I get is to sit in the bath, up to 4 times a day, or put ice cubes on my bum (sorry to have to share that with you).
I wouldnt mind but since the reversal I dont get up in the night anymore more for the loo, Im kept awake because of my burning bum. devil

Any ideas will be more than welcomed.

A lot of j pouchers find that either Ilex Cream or Calmoseptine Ointment work for them. Do a search on Google and you'll find suppliers there.

Good luck.

Thanks Shaz

Im going to see the doctor tomorrow, maybe he has something that will work.
I was wondering if you had ever considerd having the reversal op taking into account you've had the ileomstomy for 30 years.

:-)  Hey There! LifeBegins
I am experiencing the same as you. My bum is so red, irritated, swollen, burning, mad   tching, and bleeding all signs of hemmorrhoids. I had my reversal ileostomy three months ago and for the past three weeks I have been dealing with hemmorrhoids. My doc prescribed me a foam use 4x's daily. Did not work, they got worse. So I used calmine lotion and vaseline. The pain went away along with the redness and irritated, it still itches, but doesn't burn as much now. See if this will help you. Good Luck!
