Hi everyone,
I was wondering if anyone there has had a baby with there Ostomy. I have had an ileostomy for just over a yr, and have had CD for 21......I am 10 weeks pregnant right now, and besides the worry, I am extremely HAPPY.... I had some question for my Doc but hes never had a patient with an ostomy that has had a baby, So i was hoping somebody could give me a heads up. Is there anything i should watch for....and how do you empty it when you get really big....bc where mine sits it seems that it will be really high on my belly as it grows. I would love to hear any stories, or receive any advice. Thanks so much,

Hi Mystic!

Congratulations on the upcoming blessed event yeah   I am excited for you! I can see your dilema, but I have not been pregnant with an ostomy. There are people on the Chron's Forum who might have some info! Will you post your question there, too? Maybe you will be able to get an answer! I would be interested to know, too!

God bless and stay well,

Madelyn

Yes, many women have gone through childbirth with an ostomy.  If you jump over to www.j-pouch.org you can ask this question on that board.  I know that one poster, Janna, had a baby last year and she has a permanent ostomy.
