I had an ileostomy takedown about three weeks ago.  I am doing very well for the most part but I am having trouble getting my trips to the bathroom regulated and working properly.  I had the ileostomy for 3 months after colon surgery.

I was very lucky, I never did have diareah.  I am only taking metamucel once a day, nothing else.  It seems if I don't take some MOM, I have trouble getting things to move.  I eat pretty much everything.  I am trying not to push because I don't want anything to break inside.

Does anyone have any suggestion on how to get things moving on a steady basis?

Thanks to all!

Ron,

It just takes time, try to be patient.  It sounds like you are doing very well.  My pouch performance increased in about 6 week increments over the course of a year.
