There are so many brands/suppliers/formulations on the market - how do you decide which is right for you?
I have history of diabetes and rectal cancer (no chemo/rad) so it would seem that probiotics would be appropriate.
Your comments and suggestions will be appreciated.

There are Probiotics under the brand Garden of Life, they are specifically designed to target people with intestional difficulties.  You can order them right online are purchase them in not natural/health food stores.  They can be a bit on the expensive side though...and it usually takes 3 months before you will notice any major differences in how you feel.  Good luck.

Primal Defense is the name of the Probiotics made by Garden of Life.  They are expensive if you live in Canada.  Ordering on-line can save you up to $20.  Here is a web-site that lists the product...it is closer to the bottom of the page: http://www.naturalhealthshoppe.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWCATS&Category=324

I think reaction time varies...I was told by a health professional that it can take up to 3 months to notice all of the benefits of taking them, but that's not to say that you won't notice some improvements right away.  I think the point is that you have to take them consistently over a period of time for them to be the most effective.  For me, I was so sick and battling my UC when I started taking them that they didn't really help me at all.  However, after reading skinsfan's post I might try and take them again when I get my j-pouch in December.
