Hi, my consultantant tells me that the only way to manage my bowel is with strong laxatives every day, or to have a subtotal colectomy, which is the drastic option. confused

Even though i have always been 'regular' since my youth, i am, apparently chronically constipated according to gut transit study.
I would like to get rid of this problem once and for all, as i spend 1 1/2 hours or more in the morning emptying my bowel, even though it is unformed (sorry).  is there anyone else out there who spend their life -or used to - in the loo.?? sad

i used to spend allll kinds of time on the throne. for the past year i've had to wake up 3hrs before i could go anywhere. so up at 6am so i could make it to work by 9am. then on the throne again around 5pm so i could go out in the evenings after 7pm. for the previous 14yrs it was more like 30-40mins at a time, but more frequent. so no fun!! anyway i had a proctolectomy done 1.5months ago and i think it's the greatest thing. wake up, empty the bag, get dressed and there ya go, in 10mins i'm ready to leave the house. but beware-you'll run out of things to do with all the extra time you'll have! honestly i wish i had the surgery earlier in my life ! no more worrying where a toilet is, when to "schedule" bathroom breaks, etc.
