Has any one ever had thrombosed hemorrhoids?  I am having alot of pain, it feels like
I have a marble in my retum, and it is very painful to have BM's, I feel the pressure
all the time, no matter what position I am in.
I spoke with my doctor today and he said that's what it sounds like, but he can
not see me until Monday. I don't know if I can wait until then.  He said if I cant
I would have to go to the ER, but the ER where he is , is an hour away and
I can't stand that ER.
I'm thinking about going to the ER just not the one where he is.
Does anyone know what the difference is between thrombosed hemorrhoids
and fistus?

Any ideas ??????  confused

April,

I have had this problem, assuming that I am interpreting your problem correctly, and it is very painful.  I had my doctor call me in some lidocaine cream.  It is very cheap (about $4) and works well.  I would call the doctor after the office has closed and see if the answering service will page a doctor for you.  Hopefully, the doctor will call you in some thing tonight to the pharmacy.  Also, I would sit in the tub filled with hot water.  I remember sitting in the tub for hours and while running to the toliet every few minutes.  I have been up late in to night going from tub to toliet to tub to toliet for 3-4 hours.  It is not any fun!  Your bum burns and it is irritated and causes you to bleed.  I am so sorry that you are going through this.  I truly hope it gets better.  Have you read some of the older posts?  I remember Phyllis had some pain about a year ago and she posted something about it too.  I cannot recall what she did off hand, but you can go back and read the older messages.

I hope this helps you,

Amey

April,
If you do get a hold of your doctor and he calls in something for you, could you let me know how it works? I really hope you feel better soon.

Amey,

My doctor is not on call this weekend so I can not get in touch with him.
If the pain doesn't go away by tomarrow I'm going to the ER.  I cant stand
the throbing.
When my husband gets home I'm gonna have him look. He has been great,
when I was in the hospital I could not wipe my self, so he did.
If anyone says they have seen all of it...........

Thank you so much,
it means alot to me to
have find people who
care and understand.

Peace :-)

April,

I am anxious to see if you find any help. My bum has been burning for days and I have not been able to eat because I am afriad to have a BM. I have been eating Jello for all of my meals. I called my doctor today and let a message with the nurse. Last night I was in the tub for 6 hours because the pain was so bad. I teach cycling classes at the gym (which means I teach a biking class). I am praying that I can get the swelling and throbbing down by Wednesday because I cannot imagine biking with this huge knot in my bum! I found that witch hazel does bring some relief. I put this on some cotton balls and kept dabbing my bottom. It is the same ingredient you find in Tucks hemorrhoid pads.

April,

Am I correct in assuming that you have not had s*x with your hubby since February?  If so, is this because you are afraid of the discomfort?  Are you sure there is going to be discomfort?

As far as my bum, it feels better. However, I have not eaten anything but jello since Sunday.  I am getting pretty hungry.  I called my GI specialist 5 times in 3 days crying and begging for him to see me.  His first available appt is in December.  I explained to the nurses that I cannot eat because any food is tearing my rectum and burning like acid.  They told this to the specialist and he offered to work me into his schedule on Wednesday.  I will keep you posted if he has any suggestions.

In the meanwhile, I am going to keep eating Jello and drinking prune juice.  This is not fun, but it beats screaming on the toliet for 5-6 hours a night.  Which is worse, hunger pains or a burning bum??? I can deal with being hungry better than fire in my rear.

I have to say that intercourse has been a bit uncomfortable for me since my surgery.  I find that my internal muscles are extremely tight and I have to try to relax them better.  You may want to google Keagles and other things you can do to help make your experience less painful.  My hubby is very understanding and we always have to take things slow.

Thanks for the advise, I'll try it, my husband is very understanding
and he will take it slow, but I'm still in alot pain in my bum.

I can't beleive that you doctor could not get you in sooner.
Is this you GI doctor or sugeon? Are you bleeding at all.
Have you been with this doctor so they know your history??

Doctors suck all they want is to cut and get paid!!!

Yesterday was a bad day for me (not that you want to hear it) but I went
about 20xs so I could not go anywhere I had to stay close to home.
Today it's to early to tell, just woke up and I have'nt gone yet.

I hope you feel better and start going soon.  I would call your doctor
and tell them you can't wait till Wed. you are in too much pain, let
me know what they say!!!!!
Gotta go because I thing I gotta go!!! LOL

Peace, Apri

I have had these when I was pregnant years ago.   and yes they hurt like heck.....sitting in the hottest water you can stand, or get in the shower and bend over and let it run on your butt hot as the devil.....mine were outside, or right at the anal muscle.    I also think Anusol is THE best hemorrhoid medication.....I believe it is now called "tucks"......in those days, I just went to my gp and he would lance the buggars and it was instant relief.   I can't believe he didn't see you.....he doesn't know how these hurt!!

I am feelin' for you....hot water and try to stay off your feet

April,
20x in the bathroon sounds like a nightmare! I hope you feel better shortly. I have been putting lidocaine on a suppository and shoving them up my rear. It hurts to insert them, but it helps to sooth the internal cuts and tears. Lidocaine does sting initially, but then it helps. So, if you ever use it please note that is does irritate the skin which will cause blisters if you use too much and it does string at first. However, the blisters and stinging are better that the blood and tearing...I think. I guess I have to pick the lesser of two evils. I just wanted to share this with you so you could decide if it is worth buying yourself. If you doctor will not give you any, you can get it online at http://www.edrugnet.com/showprice.asp?name=lidocaine&bysearch=ok
it costs $35 and there is free shipping. I get a lot of stuff from this site.

Take care,
Amey

I've suffered flare ups of the external type for 25 years, some minor, some bad - like the one last week while on vacation in Maine. I was this >< close to calling the doctor when I got back to arrange to have them removed, but I managed to get by on 6-8 extra strength Tylenols each day.

I remembered what my GP said that last time I mentioned them, that they're basically like a balloon which inflates/deflates. The problem comes when there's a clot and they don't deflate - causing excruitiating pain until they rupture or resolve themselves. He referred me to a general surgeon, but I never followed through - mostly because I would prefer a specialist if I'm going to have the diseased vascular tissue and attached skin removed.

Also, since I had a laptop with me I did some more research and realized that I've never read anything about whether your butt will work as well afterwards with a portion of the "balloon" removed. The job of the hemorrhoidal tissue is to act as a seal, so what happens if 10-20% of that "seal" is surgically removed???
