Had my nine month check up with my surgeon this past Tuesday - PSA is undetectable *yeah*.   As a few others have experienced on here, I had great erections at 9 weeks then they fairly quickly went away. They are not coming back terribly fast. i would say that at nine months I would be in a very common position of having partial erections, or real erection only at the point of orgasm.  The minute stimulation is stopped, it starts to fade. Constriction rings help.

BUT, I told my doc about this and at first he tended to not believe me, or hinted that it was my fault. Once I explained to him that I had met others on here in a similar situation, he told me it was very rare.  I told that I KNEW it was very rare, but it is what it is.

Anyway, he told me take a cialis during the day and then a viagra right before sex. Has anyone else tried this?  i had thought about doubling up on meds since they all do the same thing, but in a slightly different way.   He also prescribed me MUSE, which i am not too keen on taking since i've heard nothing but aching associated with it.

thoughts?
thanks
Paul

I haven't heard of a Cialis / Viagra combination.  Is there a conflict between the two?  Don't know myself.  I'm currently - just started yesterday - the Cialis / MUSE combination three times a week.  Too early to tell whether it'll work because I'm ust about 18 days after surgery.

I doubt MUSE will present discomfort or problems for me.  The Urologist prescribed some lidocaine ointment to use with it and though there was a very small tingling/burn when the pellet was inserted that disappeared quickly.  It's too early, also, to tell if I'll suffer any side effects from either the Cialis or MUSE.

Personally, I would be reluctant to increase my dosage of medication unless my Urologist had first approved it.

I have occassionaly taken a Cialis or Levitra within a couple hours of Viagra, and no bad thing happened to me. However, each person reacts differently, so use caution when deciding to try it. The Cialis is good for 3 days, the Viagra for 8 to 10 hours, and are different drug formulations, so who knows. lol

Congrats on the zero, by the way.

the doctor has me on 25M of viagra a day and has me taking cialis with the viagra once a week. not much success. the success comes with the combination along with the vacuum pump. like you, as soon as the stimulation stops so goes the erection.

Also, currently am experiencing tenderness in one of my testicles? have you experienced any discomfort from taking the ed meds?

Well, when I get a chance to use the drugs in combination, I'll let you know. ahhh, the best laid plans! I took the cialis friday afternoon, thinking thata surely this weekend I might get lucky. Well, we both came down with a stupid cold that left us miserable! so, no chemistry experiments have happened yet!

I think tenderness in testicles is one of the less common side effects. I think it comes from the dialated blood vessels in the region. I have the common issues with viagra - stuffiness and funny vision when i look at bright lights. But since i don't plan to be staring at bright lights during sex, I'm ok with that one.

I'll let you know how it works. i am counting on all the guys in my prostate cancer support group who all insist that after one year I won't need any of these meds anymore! god, I hope they're right!

Funny you brought it up, 2 weeks ago I had my 27th wedding aniversary and thought I'd try something a little special. I took a Cialis in the AM and a 100mg Viagra that night w/ great results except I had a raging head ache and woke up the next morning my eyes were beet red. It scared my wife! I mean the whites were totally red! I wount try that again!

I like the idea of baseline cialis plus a viagra dose prior to activity time--i'll definitely try it. I have a question about the penile rings--how tight do they have to be? I tried two different sizes that came with the vacuum pump; the smaller felt very tight (but not painful) but did not hold the erection. Also it started to feel uncomfortable pumping before I had reached a full erection. Any hints? Thanks so much!

First, Welcome to the club....sorry you had to come.

Penile rings should be just as tight as it takes to do the job of holding the blood in the penis. Never wear one for more than 30 minutes. You mention it feeling uncomfortable while pumping. Do you mean before you place the ring or afterwards? If afterwards, then you shouldn't be pumping after the ring is in place This can cause major damage to the penis. If you mean uncomfortable while pumping without using the rings, then the feeling can be uncomfortable as the blood is pulled into the penis, especially the last little bit when the penis is at its max capacity of blood engorgement. Mosdt guys have had problems with other parts of the anatomy getting pulled, hair and the scrotal sack being the most common. A tip to using rings is to clip the pubic hair back to 1/4 inch or so, to prevent pulling hair out.

Thanks James! This forum is a wonderful thing--I'm glad I found it.

The pump was uncomfortable prior to the ring deploying. I think it must be just what you described--the last little bit of blood needed for the full erection. I'll try again and see--thanks for the info!

If that's the case, the feeling of discomfort will subside as you stretch the cavernous cavities and the flesh of the penis with further use. Keep on pumping and it will get things back to a maximum normal size...It will always be a little uncomfortable, I have found, on those last 2 or 3 pumps.

If you can't get a penile ring to suit, try ordinary office rubber bands. If you want more or less constriction, adjust the number or style of bands. I use four or five 1/8" wide 2" diameter bands each doubled over.

I find that I can pump up with the bands already in place. The arteries (inflow) are deep inside the penis so are less affected by constriction than the veins (outflow).

The technique I use with a cheap pump is:
* First, pump up without bands
* Remove the pump and quickly place one or two bands, before the erection collapses completely
* Pump up again, and because of the partial constriction, the collapse is much slower
* Place the remaining bands
* If necessary, pump again.

After some practice, I find my bands to be quite comfortable. As we're all different, don't be afraid to experiment to find something that suits you.
