Steve,

Here's an abstract that explains a bit. I came across it talking to a fellow who was considering it. I'd never heard of it.

The people who did the abstract study all seem to be from Japan.
Have heard of hyperthermia treatments in Germany.
Suppose HIFU might be a hyperthermia form.
(They are developing magnetic nanoparticles for heat treatments.)

I don't know the status of hyperthermia in USA.

RCS,

please have a look for Philips “Sonalleve MR-HIFU”.

http://www.healthcare.philips.com/de_de/products/mri/systems/sonalleve/applications.wpd

As far as I know it is approved in Germany for treating cancer related symptomatic bone metastases and we do have 2 centers equipped with this machine, but I do not know of any PCa Patient who has done this “MR-HIFU” treatment yet.

Lowroad,

Thank you for the link to the Philips MR-HIFU machine. It is an impressive machine.

When you say "... we have 2 centers with the machine,", are the 2 centers in Germany? If so can you provide any contact information (name of the center, city, telephone number?).

Thank you.
