Dr Patel did my RARP in August, and my first post-surgery PSA came back >0.1, so I’m starting to explore options in case the retest trends the same way. I had a very good experience with Florida Hospital for the surgery, but don’t know anything about them for RO/MO. Anyone done followup therapy at Florida Hospital in Celebration or other metro Orlando locations? I’d appreciate hearing your experience. There’s no RO on my island — the closest one is on Guam — so I’m gonna have to travel pretty darned far anyway. I have family just north of Orlando, so I’d have support and a place to stay there.

Age 60
PSA 7.2 Apr 2017
Dx July 2017 after biopsy G8 (4+4), 5/13 cores
RARP Aug 11, 2017
Post surgery pathology: pT3a, tumor 30% of gland, seminal vesicles and 3 lymph nodes clear, bone scan clear
PSA 0.13 9/25/2017

He is not in Orlando, but I highly recommend Dr. Dattoli who practices in Sarasota FL. He has the highest published (independently verified by the University of Washington) "cure" rate in the world for initial treatment of prostate cancer:

"The overall actuarial freedom from biochemical progression at 16 years is 82%, with 222 patients followed beyond five years and 149 patients followed beyond 10 years (Figure 1). The overall freedom-from-failure for the 157 patients with intermediate risk disease was 89% while the overall freedom-from-failure for the 164 patients having high risk features was 74% at 16 years."

This was using old 3D-CRT technology.

He has a CT scanner, lab, and color doppler ultrasound which located high blood flow where my urethra was stitched back together. He also found 2 lymph nodes that were larger than normal, indicating possible PCa.

His equipment and techniques are all state-of-the-art.

He provides free educational events every week dealing with nutrition, exercise and much more.

He or his partner will consult with you by phone for FREE! 1-877-dattoli.

I found a room to rent on Craigslist in a private home. Yes, it was more expensive than getting treatment at home, but well worth it.

SRT is a very common procedure and you can have it done at any convenient place that has enough experience and good equipment.

Lots of fine choices about 2,500 miles closer to you, like UCLA, Cedars-Sinai LA, and UCSF. Good luck!
