Is there anyone that has been taking Armour, and are now taking the "new formulated" Armour?

I have been experiencing some Hypo symptoms AGAIN since the new formulation and was wondering if anyone else had the same issue?

I am thinking of switching over to Nature Thyroid.

I don't know what the new formulated armour is. I am however taking a different one than I was taking when I first got diagnosed with hashimoto's 2 1/2 years ago--60mgs. I wonder if that is why I have been gaining weight---30 lbs????????I also have Lyme and co-infections....I think you are on that forum also?

I decided to increase the dose to another 30 mgs on my own as I don't like the endo I went to _she doesn't understand lyme. I don't see my LLMD for another 2 months so I took it upon myself to experiment. I have taken the new dose for 4 days and feel no heart racing or other symptoms yet. I will keep you posted on my results.

How can I tell if this is a new formulated one??? The first one I took was a small long pill. The one I take now is a larger round one. Any ideas?
Blessings

If you have gotten your Rx refilled within the past 3 months or so...I am betting it is the "new" Armour.

So many people are having problems with it. Forest states now it is not meant to be taken sublingually. ARRGGHH. Also, many are stating that the strength has been decreased.

Do you swallow yours??

I am having more fatigue and joint pain.

60 MG is a low dose of Armour. I too have Hashi's. Started me out on 30MG, then I was to increase 30MG about every 2-3 weeks, until Hypo symptoms stopped. My Endo told me that "most" feel best between 3-5 grains.

But, 60MG may be all your body requires to feel well! If you are planning on increasing...you are smart to only go up 30MG (1/2 grain). Stay on that 2 weeks before you even try to increase again if you feel the need.

Sounds like you have a good handle on what to look for as far as Hyper signs.

Do you split your dose over the day?

Thanks for the reply. Yes I swallow mine. I take 60 mg in the am around 5:30 as that is when my husband's alarm goes off-then I got back to sleep for a bit, then take 30mg late afternoon.

I always suspected that my dose was not enough. Wow 2-3 grains is average for one to feel better.

Although I have Lyme and it is not easy to differentiate symptoms, I have had joint pain and fatigue for a long time, maybe some of it is from thyroid.

5.5? And no side effects? That is a rather high dose.

Lyme killer, Are you treating co-infections too?

It is difficult to tell the difference between thyroid issues and lyme and co-infection symptoms. The main symptom for me when I first got diagnosed with hashi's was that my hands and feet just could get warm. I am always a person who is Hot most of the time especially because I have Malaria-like illness) as well. My feet and hands were so cold even with 3 pair of socks on. Also my morning temp was very low taken at the same time first thing in the morning for a week.

I many of the symptoms on the list of hypothyroidism but thoses symptoms overlap for lyme and co-infections.

Now I am sure that the thyroid is the culprit as I have an unexplained weight gain of 30 lbs since December. I began to increase my dose myself 1/2 grain then 1 grain of armour-- as I don't have an appointment with my lyme md for 2 months. I have not noticed any negative symptoms from the increase- I am going slowly as I was on a very low dose of 1 grain. I am now up to 2 grains and will stay at that for another month and see what happens.

Your dose does seem pretty high --and you don't feel any better??? Perhaps it is too high, perhaps it is Lyme and co's. I have heard that too high a dose is just as bad as too low. I hope you feel better soon.

Hi, I just started on Armor Thyroid a couple of weeks ago.  30 mg. then I'm supposed to increase to 60 mg.

I read in a post here or on the Lyme board that someone takes it an hour before they get up in the morning.

I didn't have that instruction.  I just take it with my other meds in the AM.  Does anyone else take it alone, an hour before they get up?  And on an empty stomach?  And, is there an immediate response, or does it takes days/weeks supposedly?

Thanks!

I was told to take Armour ion an empty stomach at least an hour away from food. I take it when my husbands alarm cklock goes off around 6am then go back to sleep until I have to get up. Also I have begun to split the dose and take it 2 times a day as suggested by other Armour takers. This way you are not getting so much at once. I do feel better after doing that and it has not interfered with my sleep at all. In addition you should not take Armour with vitamins, or minerals because they can interfere with the absorption of it. I think all this info is on the sheet they give you with the meds. Also you can go on the Armour thyroid site and get lots of info. I hope this helps.

I take synthoid. I have to take my nexuim (because it has magnesium) first, eat breakfast and wait four hours before I can take my synthoid. My synthoid is supposed to be taken on an empty stomach and wait 30-60 mins before I eat lunch. It's a juggle but so far so good. I'm having acid reflux surgery in December so after that no more nexium to juggle with the synthoid.

If you let the Armour melt in your mouth, you do not need to take away from food...that is why alot do it sublinguily (sp)?

If you swallow as a pill you do need to take an hr away from food.

HMMMMMMM. Sounds reasonable. I'd double check with my pharmacist to be sure.
