confused   confused I have a question.

My UC has been under control for several years.
about a month ago I started taking Flax Seed in the mornings mixed with my serial to get more fiber in my diet. I felt that this was a natural way to help my constipation.
I then started getting a lot of bleeding.

Q ~ Is this bleeding a result of the Flax Seed and should I refrain from using it?

I researched it on the web and couldn't find anything on this.

Any suggestions?

I doubt the flax seed would bring this on or cause bleeding, it could very well be coinicidence, afterall flares come and go no matter what we do to try and stay healthy...I say talk to your GI, make sure you don't have proctitis going on (inflammation of the rectom) if there is proctitis then a script of cortifoam is likely necessary, but if it were me I'd still continue with the flax seed.

Flax is supposed to be so good for inflammation, but I would stop it and see if it makes any difference. I have been meaning to try the flax oil for so long. Are you eating a different cereal than you used to? It may be that. I noticed when I eat Total or Raisin Bran it is too rough for me. You never know, it could be both, or nothing. I felt that the Probiotics, Fish Oil pills and aloe juice all made me worse... Sorry you are flaring.

flax thins the blood and for some it's not a good thing to take. I personally don't "feel good" when I take flax seed or any omega 3 stuff. Hard to explain...and could be coincidence...although it's consistent... but I wouldn't take it in large doses...ever.
