I just called and left a message for my Gi but i was wondering if anyone else has had this experience. I haven't seen blood in my stool for months but today i have had about 10 bms, all D, some just a clear liquid. In the last one though i saw what looked like pink tissue. It was all stringy and gross. It wasn't a darl color and I didn't see any blood on the tp. any ideas?

Either something you ate didn't get digested well enough or it's likely mucus...possibly even tinged with blood and you don't have to see blood on the TP for it to be blood tinged mucus.

Sounds like mucous to me. Exactly as PB described.

Sounds like it's normal for flaring....sloughed tissue and mucus..with a bit of blood.

Seems like it's related to your pred decrease....how have you been doing till then?

Thanks for the responses, you guys are much quicker than the Gi.

I've haven't seen blood for about 6 months but have still had d, pain, and average 6 bms a day. Until today. I'm at 10+ with what i guess is blood and mucus though it doesn't look like mucus i've ever had before. I knew coming off pred was gonna cause problems. I was at 15 since august hoping imuran would kick in but Gi said i needed to get off pred now no matter what. I'm expecting a call that he wants me to start remicade. Might do a scope before that. Last i saw him (two weeks ago) he said that if coming of pred caused blood we would switch to remicade. I'm a bit scared but have tried everything esle so i guess this is it. I have to try not to get ahead of myself! I'll wait to hear before worrying.

Thanks again!

kb5 - I have been getting a little of what you are describing since I came of pred 6 weeks ago. Scared the heck out of me the first time I noticed it on the toilet paper!

I've had similar experiences coming off of pred.

Have you tried using Rowasa to help get off of pred? I'm sure that and Imuran (the combination of both) is what helped me get of my last pred taper.

Let us know what the doc says.

So I am still flaring. I had my scope yesterday and he said I was not severly inflamed but that I am not near remission. So we are going to keep trying the imuran and decreasing pred (very slowely) and hope for the best.

Thanks all!
