Hi all,

I have to say, finding this site has helped me enormously.  I have struggled with UC for 14 years and this past year was a living nightmare. I was in and out of the ER and tried all of the meds.  The pred made me look like Free Willy and I felt so crazy on it that I refused to take it again.  My doc then suggested with Remicade and I am pretty happy on it.  I no longer get into the car fearing that a Starbucks bathroom needs to save me.  Still I can't seem to lose the 20 lbs I gained on the pred.  I wonder, does anyone feel that they are gaining weight on Remicade? I am determined to lose the weight but I feel a little discouraged so far.

I appreciate any advice,
JS

Hi betterdays, I gained about 20 lbs while on Remicade but it helped me feel so much better for about 3 years. I would recommend trying to do more physical activity and lowering your calorie intake some, but don't expect the weight to come off quickly. At least you will be trying and be doing good for yourself even if you don't see extreme results. I am glad the Remicade's working for you and welcome to healingwell!

I gained a ton of weight on Prednisone but not on Remicade. I would say that Remicade has not affected my weight at all. I think everyone is different though. I do try to excercise when I am not in a really bad flare.
