Hi All,

I need to know two things:
- How long did your Remicade/Humira take to work?
- What dose were you on per Kg of body weight?

Really need to know both of these things as I am on a Humira like drug and can't find ANY information on the net at all with regard to how long its supposed to take to work!!!!

I have severe pan-colitis and my doctor recons I should have noticed a change within 3 days of my sub-dermal injection. Is this right???

Thnx,

Severin, I don't know that you can compare to Remi because of the different method of delivery. The usual dose is 5 mg./kg. every 8 weeks. It can be increased as high as 10 mg./kg. and/or given as frequently as 6 weeks. My induction was infusions at one, three and six weeks. I could tell a definite difference after the second infusion.

I asked a similar question regarding Remicade a little while back:

As for me, I just received my third infusion the other day (had them at 0, 2, and 8 weeks). My symptoms have certainly improved, although I am still in a flare-up.

I am very much also chasing info on those using Humira. I really think my GI's optimism that I should feel better within 3 days is a bit over the top. Everything I have read on this forum in the past suggests that it usually takes around 2 infusions to really have any major change...

I've had 2 infusions of Remi so far and have not improved much. I don't have as much of an urgency problem--I can walk to the bathroom instead of run. I've had about one good day per week (little blood, about 4 BMs) since starting Remi, but the rest of the days are "normal" flare days. sad I'm not sure what my dose is.

Some people start feeling better after the first infusion--maybe that's why your GI is saying w/in 3 days? Have you noticed even any small changes?

I kid you not, I felt results within the first 24 hours of my first infusion, at 5mgs/kg dose , every 8 weeks. I was able to sleep thru the night, finally, & went down to about 4-6 formed bm's, no blood. Which sounds like a lot, but was a VAST improvement over my previous 10-15 bm's a day. Worked alright for a little less than a year, aside from horrible strep pneumonia complications, but after my first few infusions the results were lessened. And my symptoms were coming back sooner & sooner. Am now at 10mgs/kg dose, every 6 weeks. Is working alright- I have 4-7 bm's a day, no blood (well, maybe a little bit in the week before my infusion), & am usually able to sleep thru the nights. Or get up only once.

After having severe pan colitis I have had 3 infusions since June 08.  I was feeling 95% within a few days of the first infusions and continued to be well after the second, until I received a stomach flu with diaherra in early July.  While everyone at work recovered within 24 hours, I got continuously worse until my third infusion in late July.  My progress after that infusion was a slow and gradual improvement (not as quick as the first time)...it was all looking good until the flu hit the office again.  I am trying to hang in until the 4th infusion Sept 19th.  I am not as bad as after the first flu. The nurse told me it takes 4-5 infusions and I can likely try to get pregnant after 6-8 infusions.  I am hopeful as we'd like to have another baby.  Good luck to all of you.  Let me how long it took for you to  go into remission with remicade.  Thanks!

I've been on Humira since 1/01/08. If I remember correctly, my GI had me on it for two months before having me start reducing other meds.
