Do lots of sitz baths with plenty of epsome salts then pat the area completely dry and gently rub extra virgine olive oil on the entire area.

:)

Have you been wiping too vigorously? Is your tpaper too coarse? If there are not sores around your anus and just a redness you can try a diaper cream to take the sting or burn out. I get that sometimes if I wipe too much or too hard and it hurts/burns/stings when I sit.

thanks...is this a symptom of UC?...scared about crohns God forbid. Maybe it's from the UC anal inflammation or from passing giant stool (my fissure jus split open again due to this).

I use Charmin with aloe so its pretty good.

Thanks

Its probably from the giant BM's. Maybe you should try using wet wipes.

you need to get one of those pillows with the hole in the center to sit on. When I have bad hemmroids I have to use lots of tucks ointment and wet wipes. I've never heard of having redness extend that far, it sounds like a rash. I hope you are feeling better after getting some sleep.

The sitz baths with epsome salts and the EVOO will not only soothe but heal as well and from personal experiance, most of those diaper rash creams are really hard to get off the skin (to each their own of course) but I found that to be more irritating which is why I suggest the epsome salt sitz baths and EVOO.

I forgot about that useful little donut! Definately get one. I have used my daughter's before when my tailbone was sore - don't know how really. And my tailbone still gets sore on occasion. My daughter had to get one last year after falling on her tailbone while rollerblading and it's been so useful!

Our miracle sore hiney treatment is an anti-fungal cream (Lotrimin - can use either the athletes foot kind or ever better the vaginal cream kind) and the old fashioned thick Desitin (not the newer lighter stuff). It works!!! Very often in those under regions, thrush thrives.

Try it and let us know how it goes!!

There was one time a couple summers ago that yes mine did extend out to the butt cheeks. It was very painful. I didn't use a diaper cream but a baby powder that has antibacterial ingredients - I forgot what it's called but it's in a pink bottle found in the baby section of every pharmacy or grocery store. It definately took the sting and the chaffed feel away until it healed.

I honestly don't know. It was during the summer so maybe moisture? I have something like that going on now but it's very minor. It hurts to wash though but I make sure I thoroughly clean and dry that area.

When this happens to me, I use diaper rash cream.  It is gentle and soothing and after washing myself and drying properly, apply this, especially at night.  That way, your body will absorb the cream.  It is soooo sore when this happens.  I hope you feel better soon. :-) Omega :o)

bbc - you said you use wet wipes though, so if it happens to not dry properly that's what I would think. I know when I get my bouts of D then I end up with diaper rash...no matter how dry I think I got myself *sigh*

Hey guys thanks : )

I saw a new GI today and he said it could be fungal and thankfully did not think it looked like it was from CD. He told me to get some antifungal creme (someone else here also suggested that). I dont quite know how I got a fungal thing as I keep myself very clean and dry and keep my under wear powdered. My proctologist called me when I was at the GI docs and he said to use zinc oxide. If the fungal creme doesn't work then I'll try the zinc oxide.

I have to start a new thread to go over all that was discussed at my new GI's appt today (it was very interesting) and what testing he has me going through over the next few days....I'll post back soon and thanks again.
