Do any of you have a feeling of burning coming from your anus/rectum? For me sometimes it feels like the sensation is coming from WAY UP inside the rectum, and also feels that way by the anus too.

Also had a stool this morning that started out hard with compressed pellets completely wrapped in white mucus, then was soft at the end. It was normal thickness. Two hours later had a stool that was really long, soft, and thin and mucusy. Yesterday I had constant flatulence ALL DAY. Felt pressurized. Still waiting for colonoscopy which is 8/17, so I'm just trying to see if these symptoms sound familiar to UC. GI thinks I might have a really mild case starting.

Getting urgent feelings 30 mins after waking for last month. Usually no feeling to have BM rest of day.

I'm just hoping I don't have colon cancer. :)

Update from this morning. Had bowel movement an hour after awakening. Started out hard with pressed-together pellets, and the last part of the same motion was soft. In the pressed-together pellet part, there was a TON of white mucus marbled into the pellets. I investigated and broke them apart and found just a TON of mucus in the middle of the mass of pellets. I also think I saw a speck or two of bright red blood on the outside of one of the pellets. The soft part of the stool had a few pieces of whitish mucus clinging to the outside.

I am now worried that it could be mucinous adenocarcinoma, which is a colon cancer predominated by lots of mucus (60% or so). What worries me that maybe this isn't UC is that I only have that one bowel movement usually everyday, except a few days I have that thin bowel movement thats really soft a few hours later. I don't have a ton of blood, just a streak here and there when present. Mucus varies from not much to TONS. Only have abdominal pain right before bowel movement. Have that rectal burning/pressure feeling down there. IBS would explain the mucus, but not the blood. Anal fissure or hemorrhoid wouldn't put a spec of blood in the middle of marbled stool.

Maybe if the UC was confined just to the rectum it would explain this.....but is pellet stool compressed together in the rectum before exiting? And can the rectum make THAT much mucus alone? Also the softer stool motions are ALWAYS thinner than the ones that start out hard and go soft, so I'm wondering if there's an obstructing tumor in the sigmoid? When it's all soft it doesn't bulk up in the rectum, but when the pellets lead the stool, the soft stool then bulks up to larger masses before exiting?

Just a long wait to the scope and I'm afraid that I'm going to wake up from the scope to hear the words "We're sorry we found cancer".

Yes, I too have had a burning irritated feeling coming from inside my anus/rectum usually after having a stool. Sometimes it takes a while to subside.
Urgency and flatus is definitely associated with UC. I too have had this with the pressurized feeling. Also I have had some mucous and bleeding. Try not to worry too much (easier said than done) and think negatively. Once you have the C-scope you will know how to treat what is bothering you.

I have had all the symptoms you describe cromartie and too was fearing the diagnosis of cancer. I had to wait as you will...

Nothing we say will lessen your anxiety unfortunately...nor will it change the actual outcome.

When I go for my next c-scope in September, I too will be worrying about the biopsy results hoping there is no precancer or cancer.

Please try to look at it objectively because all your worry will probably make your now symptoms worse. It sounds as though you have UC or CD or IBS with hemorrhoids.

UC or CD or IBS with hemmies is no walk in the park either....

Hang tough...many can relate.

Thanks for the vivid imagery of your morning BM.

I have ass burn sometimes too. I think it's due to the foods I eat or if my crack is dry. I use a&d ointment or calmoseptine so calm the burning. My crack has healed finally and I don't have burn anymore.

I highly doubt you have to worry about cancer so just try to take it easy until your scope and everything will be okay. I thought I had cancer for sure before my scope a few months ago. I had lost about 20 pounds and was terribly anemic. Guess what? I was fine. I put all the weight back on now...  sad
Diagnosed with mild proctitis in March 2007: Treated with Canasa (as needed)
December 08: Began treating with Asacol 400mg (9/day) + Canasa 2x/day - Anemic
May 09: Off Canasa, taking Asacol (9/day)
Back on Canasa every other night + Asacol (9/day) + Probiotics + Iron
Reducing to 6 Asacol/day + Canasa + Probiotics + Iron - So far so good!!! -SPOKE TOO SOON! Back to 9/day...
