I think everyone should get a flu shot. I'm told that if I got the flu I would just take longer to recover, being on Remicade.

Stuff I am on is pretty much the same class as Humira. I just don't get sick so there is no reason for me to bother with it. If I do get it I will get over it so its not a big deal to me. If you get everything going and coming you may want to consider it.

I don't see why you shouldn't. The virus is inactive in the shot. I heard not to get the nasal spray though, so stick to the shot if you decide to get it. I just got mine on Monday. I get it every year now. At the same time, if you don't, you'll get over the flu, but why wait for that? I'd just try to avoid it.

Two years ago a colleague of mine who didn't get sick caught the flu, and she died. She went into a coma and then she died. She had young kids, it was very sad. So don't think it can't happen! We should all try to keep it from spreading.

Peety, I am more likely to die in a car accident. Sad things happen every day, but I don't live in fear because of it. I do more than my part to keep it from spreading through focusing on my health daily. More than most do, so I won't put myself out to get jabbed to help in prevention (which is not guaranteed prevention anyway) for those that do absolutely nothing to stay healthy. True flu prevention is not a once a year thing.

In my age group the average deaths per year from actual Influenza virus is less than 20 people. Vaccine may be anywhere from 70-90% effective in healthy adults if they get the strain right to start with. I have no real risk factors. Still too many extra ingredients added for me. It's already been shown that the influenza vaccine has had no effect on mortality rates in the elderly, which is where its main target is.

I'm on Humira and for now I'm opting to not get a flu shot.

I've never had a flu shot before and just don't want to take the risk since Humira weakens your immune system.
