Hi Everyone,
I just started taking Align last week, one pill per day. I also have started tapering off my 40mg of prednisone, and am having a rough time with it. I would like to double up on my Align in order to help myself get through this taper, but want to know what time of day is best to take the probiotics. Should I take 2 in the morning, 2 at night, or one in the morning and one at night? Does it even matter?

Thanks for humoring my over-analytical mind :)

I don't think it matters, other than too wait about 30 min to 1 hour after taking them to eat something as to help the biotics to survive through your stomach.

Ooh, glad I asked! I've been taking them with meals! That's not really doing much good, is it?!

Sometimes I take them with meals because that's the only way my schedule works. I still get benefit.
I take some in morning - and that dose has to be pretty close to when I eat breakfast - some mid-afternoon, and some at bedtime.
Align is one my GI recommends to people, so hopefully it'll be great for you!

If I'm "iffy" I double the dose for a few days.

I take Allign and the websites says....

It doesn't matter what time of day you take Align. We recommend that you take Align as part of your daily routine, at a time that will be easy to remember—such as when you take your usual vitamins or medications, or with your first cup of coffee.

Are there any special instructions for how to take Align?
No. You can take Align at any time of the day, with food or without. We recommend that you take Align as part of your daily routine, at a time of day that will be easy to remember—such as when you take your usual vitamins or medications, or with your first cup of coffee.

Flora website says....

When is the Best Time to Take Probiotics?
The best results are obtained if probiotics are taken regularly, preferably daily, to replace bacteria lost via aging and lifestyle and environmental factors. The latest research suggests that probiotics work best when consumed on a full stomach. Lactic bacteria are sensitive to extreme acidity and therefore, their passage through the stomach is easier when gastric juice has been neutralized by food.

I take mine after breakfast with my other medications.

Senior - diagnosed with proctosigmoiditis - 6/2008
Allergic to all mesalamines including rectal meds, etc.
Prednisone for about 4 months - tried 6 MP with no help.
Rectal meds only made bleeding, etc. worse.
No prescriptions as of yesterday!  Hoping for best and possibly adding other supplements. Now treating only with Imodium and Pepto Bismal and below....
Probiotic Align, Prilosec for GERD, Gas-X, vitamins, Calcium/D
Tylenol for knees and arthritis.
