These past couple days I've experienced nausea. I'm wondering if it's the increase in VSL-3 I'm taking to try to tamp down a flare (going from one to four packets). The other issue is UC itself. I heard it can cause nausea though it's not a symptom I've ever experienced.

Also, can Rowesa enemas cause nausea?

My son has experienced nausea and vomiting with his UC.
Whatever the cause - you poor thing!

When I was on regular VSL, and increased to 2 packets, I thought it made me queasy, but now I'm on the double-strength, and sometimes I take 2 packets of that a day, and no problem!

When I had the regular strength, I had the lemon-flavored,,,, wonder if that had anything to do with it....

I have had nausea from UC itselff, but only in the worst of my flares. With more minor flares, I don't notice that.

I didn't notice anything like that with Rowasa.

The VSL#3 could do it-but it could also be the UC flare itself. I don't experience it often, but it does happen to me.

Good luck-it is so miserable feeling nauseous.

NAUSEA - one of my favorite (NAH) subjects.  I have woke up nearly every morning - between 3 and 6 with nausea for YEARS - before diagnosed with UC.  I had IBS and then gallbladder/stones and had that removed.  Nausea got better but not gone away.  Even at my best days - 95% in remission - I wake up with nausea and find actually eating toast and tea or coffee even makes it much better.  However, no fun dealing with it.  I also have night sweats - for years - just not as bad now as before but almost every night.  NO doctor - primary care, gyn, 2 gastro specialists or many NPs have any answers for sure.  I tried the anti-nausea medication for chemo patients, not eating way before bedtime, 3 kinds of antacids (I take Priolosec every day for GERD) but pepto bismal helps the most.  Could be GERD, UC, etc etc.  I personally think MAYBE I don't process fats very well as it seems worse if I overeat fat and I never eat fried or greasy food.  Oh well, maybe someday I will wake up without nausea and think something is wrong LOL!  Oh, and I had an endocopy to check for stomach ulcers - nope!

Prednisone for about 5 months - tried 6 MP with no help.
No prescriptions now except for Cortifoam about once a week.  Now treating only with Imodium and Pepto Bismal and below....
Probiotic Align, Prilosec for GERD, Gas-X, vitamins, Calcium/D
Tylenol for knees and arthritis.

I have been in a flare since christmas, the worst i have ever had in 16 years. I am on no medication as i am intolerant to everything! So ive had to deal with this, with just strong will, and a hot water bottle!! I don't know how i get through somedays, ive been crying in pain, but i have my scope on Monday so i am hoping for some answers for my future.

I have nausea everyday, i think it's just the flare up. I don't see why VSL would give nausea as it is only good bacteria at the end of the day.

I am now also experiencing right sided pressure and pain, doctor thinks it could be my gallbladder or liver, but the pressure also gives me nausea. It really gets me down, as it just seems to be one problem after the next, and even worse i can't just treat it like most other people.

Anyway i would really put your nausea down to your flare, or maybe the medication you are taking. If the nausea started the same time you started the enemas it could well be that.
Ulcerative colitis for around 15 years untreated (Im am 28 years old now)

Asacol tablets and enemas,Steroids, Pentasa, Mezavant, Sulphazine, 6MP to name a few do not work for me. I do not want to try remicade. Possible surgery in the future.

I am on no meds, now looking into probiotics, turmeric Vitamin E enemas and fecel transplantation. Getting food allergy tested 23.1.10

In a bad flare since Christmas, which I need to get under control fast as it is taking over my life.

My biggest concern BOWEL CANCER :O(

My daughter is nauseated in the morning, before Bfst frequently. Don't know why. Tried Prevacid for awhile, with spotty results. Sometimes vomits, sometimes, just looks like a ghost before school. hard to make her swallow any food before classes. Taking the over the counter" Nauzeem_ sp? seems to help. Let me know when you figure it out! :)

I take Zofran also. It is really a wonderful drug which has no side effects other than my eyes get a little blurry. It doesn't make me sleepy... just takes the nausea away. They are expensive, but if you go with the generic... it's not so bad.
Presently on: 600 mg. Remicade every 5 weeks
                   Venofer infusion every 5 weeks
                   B12 every 5 weeks
                   12 Asacol daily
                   Zofran as needed
