Have you guys had a cough that has lasted for awhile? I got a cold about
a week and a half ago. My symptoms have went away but I have this cough that won't go away. I hate to call the doc for everything but it is worse at night I just cough and cough(my poor husband lol) I'm just wondering if it is taking awhile to go away because of the remicade. I had the pnemon. shot before my remicade was started but I just get nervous. The cough is really annoying.

It took a couple infusions but the Remicade is really working. Also on Vitamin D, Calicium Citrate, Chewable Multi-Vitamin, Zyrtex, Prilosec, Zinc, Omega 3, and a Probiotic, I also give myself a B12 shot every month.

I had almost 6 weeks of a continuous cough...more than annoying....
You could try a DM product at night....or you could ask the doc for a codeine based product so that you can get some sleep.
It's not productive, is it? If so, you could use the mucinex (I'm assuming you're in the US).
For daily help for the tickly cough, the Ricola helped a LOT....I used the drops, not the squarish ones. NOT the sugar free. I like the honey-lemon or the echinacea ones. I've tried the DM drops from Sucrets...they're OK, but leave a horrid taste in my mouth. The Ricola ones are awesome for me.
Then....there's Buckley's???
Hope you feel better soon....

If it continues for another 2-3 days, I'd call your PCP. Speaking from personal experience, I'm extremely pro-active (read- paranoid!) about
my health while on tnf blockers. I spent a week in ICU with strep pneumonia & sepsis while on Remicade, which REALLY messed me up. Was out of work & basically in bed for about
a month after being discharged. So, I prefer to opt on the safe side ever since then. Try the OTC stuff by all means, but if nothing helps, get it checked out. By the time I wound up in the hospital I had no idea I was as sick as I was, none. The diagnosis came as a total shock.

Had had a persistent cough for about
three weeks as well...it happened after I had a cold for a few days. I didn't call the doctor because I was not coughing anything up and I did not have a fever. I did try a few OTC meds but nothing really helped ...it just went away eventually. At my next infusion I mentioned it to the Dr. and he listened to my chest and he said he did not hear anything in my lungs so he was not to concerned. I have been fine now for a few months.

That is my thing I'm not coughing anything up(every once in a while), it is mostly dry. It is annoying. We are going to chicago this week and if it isn't gone by the time we get back I will call the doctor. Thanks for the advice everyone.

I read that Aleve actually helps a cough better than cough medicine, especially if it's a dry cough.
I started using Aleve cold medicine, and don't get the weeks of coughing at the end of a cold like I always used to.
Aleve is not good for UC, but it is worth it.
49 year old female attorney, diagnosed UC/pancolitis 1985.
Asacol for 20+ years with
Prednisone & Rowasa for flares (But nothing since Remicade).
Food sensitivity test by Naturopath showed wheat/gluten, other intolerances, helped some.
Remicade started April 2009 (Humira denied) and doing great~ learning what normal is~ wow
