Ug, my hiney got kicked this weekend with another tummy bug (might have been food poisoning).  The last one I got was really mild...just a touch of diarrhea over a day.  This one, however, was horrid.  I started feeling really nauseated around 4pm on Sunday, had several bouts of super-watery diarrhea, then threw up around 9pm.  I was hoping that would end the nausea (because I felt like I'd feel better if I would just vomit), but no such luck. I did feel better for about 30 minutes or so, but then it came back.  Needless to say, I didn't get much sleep between the nausea, more bouts of diarrhea (no more vomiting), and being super-thirsty (I only took small sips of water to keep from vomiting again).  All day yesterday, I was achy (I'm guessing from dehydration) and super tired.  Luckily, all seems to be back to normal today, save a little bit of leftover tiredness.

I'm for sure going to double up on probiotics for a few days, and might do a few extra enemas this week, b/c I'm sure this bug stirred up a bit of inflammation.
Status: Remission since May 2009!
Symptoms began in November 2008, ~4 weeks after giving birth to my son
Diagnosed with pancolitis on 1/30/09
Meds: Apriso (4 0.375g pills ONCE!! daily), mesalamine enema twice weekly, Natural Factors Ultimate probiotic 12/12 Formula, multivitamin.  Used prednisone (starting dose 40 mg) to get into remission.

I had the stomach bug a few years ago and I felt horrible! So I can sympathize! Definitely drink lots of fluids to replenish yourself and I hope you feel better quickly.

Probably not food poisoning in the real sense, but whatever you picked up hand to mouth, could have been via food or anywhere on the planet...

I feel for you!!!!!!! I've not had that for a long time, and I hope to never again.

Definitely up the probiotics double of what you're taking. As well, fibre supplements if you can take for even a few days....

Nightly enemas just becasue that could be the trigger. At least for a week and see how it goes. If all is fine, every two nights for a week and then back to every 3...fast taper.

For sure don't wait on the butt meds...trust me on this.

If you don't want to do the fibre supplements or can't, add more absorbing something to clean house, so to say.

Hope you get back to feeling better soon....

Yes, get well soon! I had that in Dec 09 for about 3 days. The nausea and running to the bathroom, you wouldn't think you had that much liquid in you!
I don't like throwing up, I try to control that as much as possible because it makes me gag and throw up even more! Yuck!
The one that did happen with me was that it set a minor flare in January 2010, so I can relate to what may happen.

Alas, it's the season when bugs can really hit hard. How is your little guy? Did he give you anything going around at day care? Hope you feel good as new real soon. / Old Hat (30 yrs with left-sided UC; presently in remission taking brandname Colazal)

Thanks, all. Today I've been just fine and eating normally. No BMs since the diarrhea ended Sunday night/Monday morning, but considering I probably cleaned the ole' colon out pretty well, I'm not concerned.

OldHat, little Ben is fine, thanks for asking! He's bopping around at the moment and apparently was quite busy at daycare today...not bad, just excited to be back after a three-day weekend!
