about 8 months ago, I noticed a small hard bump on the back of my hand. It moves up and down my hand when I move my fingers (kinda creepy looking...) I finally asked my doctor about it today and she said since it doesn't hurt and hasn't gotten any bigger that it's probably a calcium deposit on the tendon under my skin. Does anyone else have calcium deposits or know what causes them? She said it will probably never go away. I don't really trust her though because she told me something else that is inaccurate.

Could it be a ganglion cyst? I get those and they move when I flex my hand or fingers. I have had a couple of those.

I had a gaglion cyst for years where my wrist bends, it went away on it's own. I wouldn't worry about it.

I'm not sure. It could be. It's on the top of my hand and it does move when flex my fingers.

Sounds like one to me. If it gets larger or it starts to hurt, you might have to see a hand doc (if you don't trust your PCP) and have it drained. My husband had a HUGE one on the side of his wrist that he had to have drained twice, but then after that it never came back. I've had cysts all over my hands, wrists and finger joints - I've had about 3 drained and 6 corticosteroid injections...fun fun...

But most times they will go away on their own.

How long do they usually last? I've had this for almost a year. Thanks, Red.

I've had one that lasted for about 3 years and then one day I noticed it was gone. One can have a cyst for years and then one day poof! Gone. No way of knowing.

Ganglion cyst is just one explanation....I mean it COULD be a calcium deposit, I can't see or feel your hand (obviously) but google it and see if it sounds like what you have.

I have a lump on my middle knuckle on my right hand. but my injury that could of caused it was a few months ago. i have not noticed it till a little bit ago. my knuckle is not inflamed or anything like that till it gets messed with. i was told by a relative that it could be a bone calcium deopsit, is there any other possibilities it could be?
