I thought I ordered the powder from Frontier Coop, but when I received it in the mail today it was Whole Psyllium Seed. It says to add 3 tsp to 8 oz. of water. Is it okay to drink it this way? Whole seeds instead of powder form?

The whole seed is just as effective as the powdered form. I mix it with VSL3DS, apple sauce, kefir, and blueberries. It thickens very quickly so I have to eat it with a spoon like ice cream. Once while eating the whole seed I bit on an impurity and felt that I could chip a tooth some day if I continued. So now I order only the powder form.
If you have not
opened the package perhaps you can return it and ask for the powdered form.
Male/59 DX ulcerative colitis Feb08, possible Crohn's colitis DX Mar10.
No Meds, allergic to Mesalamine. Remission since Mar10. Psyllium seed mixed with VSL3 especially helpful. Food journal instead of SCD.
Watch gluten, lots of fruit & vegetables (but no plums or kale), no soda, no HFCS, no trans fat, tea instead of coffee, no shellfish, few processed foods, no carrageenan.
Probiotics, multivitamin, extra D3, K2, high gamma E, fish oil, glutamine, magnesium, phos choline, resveratrol, S. Boulardii, boswellia, curcumin.

Thanks babeinthewoods! I did
open one package. I'll just keep what I have and eat it with applesauce like you suggested. I see you've been in remission since March of 2010. What put you into remission if you are not on meds? I am getting desperate! Over 3 months flaring and no relief. I'm tapering Prednisone since it is not helping. Talking biologics but thinking about
starting LDN first. I've been gluten, dairy, soy free for weeks, but not noticing that helping either.

What put me into remission was Flagyl which is an antibiotic. Mixing psyllium seed and VSL3 seems OK for maintaining remission but Flagyl is what knocked out my flare. Here is a link of others who also found success with antibiotics. My only caveat is to make sure that you take probiotics along with the antibiotics:

I actually read ALL of those posts last night. It took me over 2 hours! Very interesting. So you didn't do a combo antibiotic treatment, just Flagyl? How long until you saw results after you started the antibiotic? Thanks!!

My story is the 3rd one down on this antibiotic thread:
www.healingwell.com/community/default.aspx?f=38&p=5&m=2088679
And here is another excellent thread about
the effectiveness of antibiotics. But of course everyone is different and it does not work for everyone. But LDN also looks promising.

Thanks babeinthewoods! I remember reading your story! Wow! I've got to find something that works! I'm really getting frustrated!
