I have a colonoscopy on friday and so thursday is an all-liquid day. Yay! (sarcasm)

Anyone have any recommendations for broth brands? Beef versus chicken versus vegetable?

Any other suggestions from the pros out there?

I can only eat so much Jell-o before it starts making me want to vom so usually I just drink broth and tea on these days. I'm doing the Dulcolax/Miralax prep so I have to drink a lot of Gatorade for the prep so I'm going to try to avoid drinking it during the day if at all possible!

I love clear juices, white grape is my favorite. Also my doc allows me to have lemon italian ice.

Lemon Italian ice yeah! My doc does too also they make this jello that has fizzles in it from sprite or whatever you put in it and it's like actually chewing on something. Gives it a good texture comes in white grape only I believe. Chicken broth straight from the bullion cube is the way I go.
Diagnosed w/ UC in 1996 at age 9. I've pretty much been on every diet and drug.
Finally got my first Humira injection 12/1/11
Remission from 2003-2010
**Current flare**
Medication: Humira 40mg every two weeks but just got my loading dose, Immuran 50 mg, prednisone 40 mg, flagella (YUCK!), perks for pain and ativans for the crazy anxiety prednisone gives me.

I prefer vegetable broth or beef over chicken. Sometimes the chicken seems to burn my throat for some reason. And I second vote the lemon Italian ice. :)

Good luck!

I also prefer the veggie broth over chicken or beef. The brand I buy is Pacific Naturals, which I've found at health food store and Shaws. I also drank a TON of Welches white grape juice. I still drink that today - it's good stuff!

I made my own turkey broth for my C-scope in October. One of the grocery stores in my area has turkey wings for sale at a very reasonable price. So I threw them in a pot along with some salt and pepper as well as large chunks of onion, celery, and carrot (for added flavor) and enough water to cover it all. Then I let it simmer for a few hours, strained it, then let it cool so the fat would rise to the top so I could skim it off. It tasted a LOT better than anything from the store.
Symptomatic remission as of May 2009
Colonoscopy in Oct. 2011 showed no inflammation
Symptoms began in Nov. 2008, about 4 weeks after birth of first child
Diagnosed with pancolitis in Jan. 2009
Apriso (Four 0.375 g pills once daily), Mesalamine enema twice weekly, multivitamin, vitamin D, probiotic
Used prednisone (starting dose 40 mg) to gain remission, tapered off easily

I get beef consumme for some reason. I never eat this any other time, but it seems to hit the spot during that dreaded liquid diet day.

I am a fan of sucking on hard candies, like lemon ones, during the prep when I get bored of the broth or juices. I find that broth(I go for chicken) helps relieve the hunger pains more than anything else.

I'm all for variety, especially when doing a liquid diet for a few days.
bee propolis caps 500mg one cap twice/day
omegas 369 caps one cap twice/day
probiotics 10 billion cfu once/day
vitamins C-calcium ascorbate (easy on the gut) and vitamin A each once/day
Prodiem fibre supplement one cap before bed
I've also altered my diet (no junky stuff at all, processed, fast-foods, refined sugars, ect) and exercise regularly.
I went from 30+ bloody BM's/day with lots of lower back pain to an average of 5/day no bleeding no back pain and completely formed stools, still have severe urgency issues.

As the good little Jewish girl I am... i am quite partial to Goodmans soup. it's quite easy to make and it tastes very good! if you can have apple juice, nantucket nector is very good as well. generally the prep makes me too nauseus to actually crave food but some docs will let you do orange jello or something (as long as it isn't red). if you buy a mix, you can make the whole bowl. that should last the full cleanout.

Thanks for all the replies!

I picked up some goodies from the grocery store tonight to get ready for tomorrow.

Lemon ice is a great idea...! Never even thought about it.

I have a weekly thursday lunch date with my friends between classes at our favorite Mediterranean restaurant so sadly I'll miss out on my favorite lentil soup but at least I can still drink the arabic tea! It is delicious :)
