Anyone out there get pain from the colitis that shoots down the leg? I have developed this new symptom. just had x ray.Thought it had to do with hip but all is ok. I am female and thought maybe it is a Gyno thing. Am having mild colitis symptoms. This has persisted for three weeks now. I am feeling extremely tired too. Any ideas?

Both legs or just one? I have for the last couple months(ever since I got this last "flare" going) had this shooting pain down my left leg, had many a medical people check it out along with other issues, one being extreme fatigue, with no real answers other then they think it's related to my colitis being out of control. I also have extreme joint pain and inflammation.

The left leg and normally my colitis pain is on the right side. I am baffled. It really hurts after sitting for a while. A heating pad seems to relieve it temporarily
Any ideas? Can not sleep on the left side anymore.

Sorry should have mentioned that I don't have any suggestions, it just seems to come and go with no rhyme or reason. Nothing seems to help except pain killers and who knows when it's going to hurt.

Hi,

Am sorry for your issue.  Is the shooting pain from your buttock down your leg?  I had colitis as a teenager (had colon removed) and have since developed sacroilitiis, which is comon with inflammatory bowel disease.  One of the symptoms for that is the shooting pain down the leg...that's when I'm in flare up mode.  You may want to look into that.  My symptoms started wtih the shooting pain and leg aches when sittting, then progressed to include lower back pain and actual joitn pain.  Good luck

Ulcerative Colitis 1988, had colon removed and now jpouch
Now sufer from sacroiliitis and inflammation of piriformis muscle causing sciatica like pain during flare ups. Joints very bad...take celebrex when needed.

I get this, especially after going to the bathroom it will be really bad. I believe I was told by the GI that the nerves are connected somehow and this is a normal symptom.
Taking 4 Lialda and Hydro Cortison Supp. 1x daily and probiotics
