So I haven't seen my doctor for about two and a half months now. But I'm still on the meds: Lialda (3.6 grams per day) and one canansa suppository every other night.

For the past four weeks, I have been pooping once a day at the SAME time every morning (8:30 - 9:00AM). Yesterday, I pooped out a slimy long strand of membrane/mucous. It scared me! I haven't seen mucous like that for a while now! Today I was back to normal.

I've heard that when you are pooping mucous it is a good thing, that your body is repairing itself and you are close to remission. Is that true?? Anyone experience anything like this?

i think it's great your bowels are on a schedule, but i've never seen mucous as a good thing... at least not in my experience. a little bit usually ends up turning into a lot and then i get the urgency again.

I don't think the mucous necessarily means that...everyone has some amount of mucous in their stool, it's what helps the stool come out. But generally with an IBD or IBS, excessive mucous means a problem, not a good thing.
bee propolis caps 500mg one cap twice/day
omegas 369 caps one cap twice/day
probiotics 10 billion cfu once/day
vitamins C-calcium ascorbate (easy on the gut) and vitamin A each once/day
Prodiem fibre supplement one cap before bed
I've also altered my diet (no junky stuff at all, processed, fast-foods, refined sugars, ect) and exercise regularly.
I went from 30+ bloody BM's/day with lots of lower back pain to an average of 5/day no bleeding no back pain and completely formed stools, still have severe urgency issues.
~~~~~~~~My bum is broken....there's a big crack down the middle of it! LOL :)~~~~~~~~
Any changes regarding food, supplements, have you maybe forgotten some dosages of medication?
If you're female, are you near period time?
Are you under a great deal of stress?
Once wouldn't be a concern....increasing could be.
Are you on fibre supplements and probiotics?
q
*Heather* I give suggestions, do with them what you will.
*Are you under a great deal of stress?* No, not in general. However, the day before this happened, I did have an incident. I drove into the city and when it came time to leave I could not find my keys! I was extremely stressed/worried for a period of about an hour, when I learned that a friend had took them by accident. It literally scared the crap out of me I guess.
I may just chalk this up to that.
Definitely get on fibre supplements and probiotics...
What I use is in my signature, but the probiotics need to be refrigerated.
Yeah, the keys incident would have caused me great distress as well..the next day or so might affect stool.
