I noticed that some of you are experiencing success using Chinese Medicine.
This morning I looked at the CCHerbal website and am interested in getting some comments/reviews.

Thanks in advance.

Maybe add Chinese medicine to the title.

q
*Heather* I give suggestions, do with them what you will.

~diagnosed January 1989 UC (proctosigmoiditis)
~Bentylol 20mg as needed; Zantac 150mg; Pulmicort/Airomir (asthma);Effexor XR 37.5 (depression)

I don't think you should take anything unless you know what it is. Don't just settle for "Chinese herbs", make sure you know the name of every herb that is in it, not just a description that it is a mixture of herbs to treat GI issues.
Asacol 400mgs 2 pillsX3; VSL#3 112.5mgs 1 pillX3; Vitamin D3 5000 ius 1 pillX2; B6 1/day; Bentyl & Swanson DAO with meals; Slippery Elm at bedtime;black cherry concentrate

Discontinued: Robinul; Natural - peppermint oil, Inflaguard (Boswellia), Pepto Bismol, Omega 3 fish oil, Imodium, Beano, Zymactive, Renew Life Probiotic 80 billion, Florastor, DGL, Monolaurin

hi everyone, After doing some extensive research i came across the benefits of adding ginger and turmeric to our diets.

turmeric: I assume a few of us have already added this to our diets. turmeric has been noted to have significant anti-inflammatory properties, however some research has shown it may be more efficent to take curcumin, the yellow pigment that is considered to be the active component, in doses of 400 to 600 milli. 3 times a day.You can find this in most health food stores that sell curcumin with bromelain, an enzyme from pinapple that enhances curcumin's absoption and has anti-inflammatory effects of it's own.

Ginger:strengthens the mucosal lining of the upper GI tract in a way that help protect against formation of ulcers.

I have been taking CCherbal for a couple of years now and couldn't be happier.  It has truely changed my life.  I didn't know until recently it was available at a website as I have been buying it at a local health food store.  Mary

I have had this disease for 15 years now. Tolerable at first as I went into remission with drugs like prednisone and finaly Remicade. A few years ago, all of these drugs stopped working for me and my UC became much worse. I am currently on Chinese herbs and doing great. Good bye prescription drugs! Daily regiment of supplements:

CCherbal
Metamucil
Ultimate Flora Probiotics

Quincy - changed the title...thanks for the suggestion.

GaryL - Ingredients are listed at the CCherbal website and are sold separately on Amazon and other websites. Info about them is available online.
Here's the website:
http://www.ccherbal.com/order.html

Scarecrow (Mary) - thanks for the response. I have a few questions:
Did someone recommend CCherbal to you?
What specific product do you get?
How much do you take and when?
Were you on any meds when you started taking them?
Any other comments/tips will be welcome.

Thanks and Happy Valentine's Day!

Did someone recommend CCherbal to you?  Yes, my GI doc actually told me about it when Remicade stopped working for me.
What specific product do you get?  They only sell one product.  It used to be sold at the health food store as two but that changed a while back.
How much do you take and when?  I take 3 capsules per day morning, afternoon and bedtime
Were you on any meds when you started taking them?  At the time I started I had just stopped Remicade because I had developed antibodies to it.  I was also taking Asacol, 6mp and enemas.

UC since '05 and DX with chronic Lyme's in 2010, (get tested by Igenix Lab) You have to be your own advocate in your health. 5-ASA no remission. Humira and Imuran didn't work. Asacol.

Scarecrow-
Thanks for the detailed reply.
Your comments make me feel more comfortable about trying this product.
Interesting (and amazing) that your GI recommended this product.
I doubt that my GI will ever go beyond approving probiotics.

This will be my Valentine's Day gift to myself :-)

I ordered from the CCherbal website yesterday afternoon.
Already received e-mails (1) acknowledging the order and
(2) notification of shipping.
"Product should arrive in 1-3 days."

Looks like very good customer service!

If you are interested in trying chinese herbal medicine then you could give the product called 'Isatis Cooling' a shot. I used it and it helped me (with the bleeding) but i had to stop it after a few weeks as it was giving me some heartburn/stomach ache. It's not meant to be used long term like CCHerbal but there are people who have used it for many years.

Thanks for the info Conquer.
I don't have bleeding and haven't had it for a long time.
In fact the condition of my colon has improved greatly over the years.
When I noticed that Scarecrow is taking this product and no longer takes meds, I was interested in giving it a try.

My hope is that eventually I may be able to eliminate the meds I'm using.

Received my order of CCherbal today by priority mail, efficiently packaged and on time.

Recommended dosage is 3 per day......morning, afternoon and evening. Took one cap this afternoon to see what happens and will progress to 2 caps tomorrow.
I like to try things out gradually in case of side effects.
Will update for those interested.

I ran into another issue and may have to take antibiotics so I've postponed taking the Chinese medicine until after this has been resolved.
Will update when I start using them.
