Can you eat an entire packet of Knox Gelatin straight? What will happen?
I read that gelatin powder is good for you so I'm wondering if you can just mix the entire packet of powder into something or if that's too much

I wouldn't do that but I have no experience. Where did you hear that? Do you mean good for you or good for UC? Don't believe everything you read or hear. I've never heard that one before.

Mix it into plain juice? You could drink it before it sets. It won't ever set in your body, because you're too warm. Or let it set and eat it :)

I don't know how you could get a whole packet down dry. Blech.

Gelatin is a very typical 'upset stomach' food, so I'm not shocked someone has reccommended it. Also, Elaine uses it in SCD, so there us probably a secondary purpose there too.

Natural gelatin is one of the good things about broths too. I'd rather get it that way than a plain packet :)

yeah, it's fine. it's basically like a scoop of protein powder. people usually mix it into smoothies and it you have a good blender, you shouldn't be able to notice it.

i used to put it in my yogurt, meatloaf, or anything that wasn't exactly that jiggly jello. i now just make actual gelatin with cherry juice.

The reason I'm asking is because I gave 2/3 packet of Gelatin and about 2 tablespoons of bone meal to my 11 year old dog who has arthritis. I did this three days in a row. I mixed it in a big bowl of white rice (which I probably shouldn't have done) so he wouldn't taste it because he is a picky eater.
After the third day he stopped eating...so I assumed he was constipated.

He's eaten rice before...so I'm wondering if the gelatin swelled up in his stomach or if the bone meal somehow constipated him. I did give him a lot of rice with it though so maybe mixing it all together caused the problem.

He was fine for the three days I gave him this, then the next day he was sick. He's been sick for three days and has hardly been eating. I stopped giving him everything after 3 days. I offered him chicken, eggs, and other things he likes and he won't eat. He ate a few bites of dog food but that's it.
Any info. would be appreciated.

Go to the vet and don't experiment on your dog. I'm sorry but this just isn't right. Next time try it on yourself and save your dog pain an discomfort.

Just a thought, Plain rice is used to treat people recovering from diarrhea. Not sure how that would affect an animal. I never have any problems with rice.

Knox gelatin will not help your UC. Organic Great Lakes gelatin will help your UC. It has helped mine tremendously with urgency.
