Has anyone tried Esdifan for the diarrhoea. I was reading about it and it looks interesting. My son's D is a pain - he's well in every other way. Any thoughts? Thanks

I would try it. It says it 'removes toxins' which is a phrase I usually look down on but it has studies to prove it's efficacy, testimonials and good reviews on Amazon. Just one of those things you'll have to see if it helps or not. Hope your son gets better.

I did not see anything on pubmed about it or zeolite. If its cheap give it a whirl.

It's mostly aluminum....which it seems is in many medications used for diarrhea.

Do the search on zeolite.

No, I wouldn't use it...or give it to my child (if I had one)

I'd suggest maybe fibre supplements and probiotics.

Get your doctor to give you a kid to have your son's stool sampled.

I would not use it either. Take quincy's advice and get his stools checked, if he has any infection. Treat the infection.

When you feel like 'removing toxins', take 2 tsp of psyllium seed powder and 1 tsp activated charcoal powder in water or apple sauce (depending on DS' age) and gulp it down 2 hours before or after any major food/medicine.
Diagnosed March 2007 with left sided UC.
Currently on daily dose of,
Sulfasalazine 1.5gm, Imuran, 150mg, Vit. B12, 1mg, Multivitamin, 1 tablet, Fish oil 2400mg , Vit D 2000 IU, Benebiotics 2caps, Folic acid 1mg. Canasa

Verapamil 320mg for migraine, Migraine episode now at least 4X a month,
Nabumetone 750mg as an abortive, so far so good with GI side effects.

Does this help stop the D?

He's the one in the signature. He has severe UC and we just cant stop the D. Needs iron infusions every 3 or so months but apart from this he's well.

I fired my GI for not giving me iron infusions, I was having visual artifacts from bright light lasting an hour due to anemia.

I do not have those problems anymore I overcame them with the RS diet which involves a lot of grass fed beef and navy beans in chili ( vitamin A recently discovered to control gut inflammation ).

I have found SCD helpful but once flaring I needed the prednisone.

Flare Reversal Steps:

Slow transit time using Librax, Immodium, Mebeverine and pepto bismal works suprisingly well
One transit time is slowed RS diet can ferment into SCFA butyrate - for me Navy Beans work best.

Now tapering does not cause a return of the symptoms, zero pred today but I should take a 5mg and stick to the plan for a soft landing. I started in the ER and the CATSCAN was so bad they took my drivers license and wanted me admitted, I had a neighbor come get us and was on 70mg weeks ago all because I stopped eating the beans.....no stopping this time. Not seen blood in 8 weeks.
