I'm not really sure how to explain this. It always feels as though my colon is full, but I don't have to poop. It's not giving me the sign of poop or anything, I'm not constipated, straining or anything else. It just seems like I can feel tomorrows dump already sitting in there. Does this make sense? It's new, last few days or so. My symptoms are getting better, now this has started. I'm hoping its healing?
Meds:Asacol800 3daily. Salofalk suppository daily, Salofalk enema nightly. Supplements: Probiotic (ultimate flora 50billion) 4 Metamucil caps/day. Diet: modified Paleo. Nothing processed etc., but include white rice, potatoes, and occasional white bread. Diagnosis:First Colonoscopy (dec2013)showed inflammation/ulcers but biopsy had no markers, so no IBD diagnosed yet. IBS-D for 10+ years.

This makes sense. Your colon is still probably swollen. Even if your symptoms have improved and some swelling has gone down, there might still be some inflammation. And now you are actually holding in some poop!

That's my best guess. I'm sure others will chime in. But when you have bad rectal disease, the reason you constantly have to go to the bathroom is because your rectum is inflammed and it can't stretch much more...sending the signal that you have to go. I can see something similar happening higher up - that swellling makes things feel more full than normal.

This was what I felt during my first flare prior to being diagnosed. I said it felt like I "missed a fart," --Like I had to hold it in and now it wouldn't come out. In all seriousness though, I have had 4 flare ups in the last 3 years and the feeling you are describing is what I felt when it started--kind of my warning sign.

or that it's spasming or super sensitive to the peristalsis and gas/stool being moved down into the sigmoid area.

An antispasmodic will help that.

Sometimes a change in food intake can help as well.

Are you feeling bloated at all?

If you have a stethoscope, you could take a listen to your bowel sounds and pinpoint where it's more active and during what time of the day.

If you're active, you'll feel it more than if you're laying quietly....

Sometimes laying across an exercise ball can help even out that feeling. When I do it, I can actually feel the rhythms change (maybe it's my pulse)...
but it does feel good and relaxing.

You could also use a warmed microwave bag on your tummy...that can help calm things down.

My colon feels full when I'm bloated, when I'm not bloated it doesn't feel that way. Are you sure it's not just a bloating issue making you feel this way?
bee propolis caps 500mg one cap twice/day
omegas 369 caps one cap twice/day
probiotics 10 billion cfu once/day
vitamins C-calcium ascorbate (easy on the gut) and vitamin A each once/day
Prodiem fibre supplement one cap before bed
I've also altered my diet (no junky stuff at all, processed, fast-foods, refined sugars, ect) and exercise regularly.
I went from 30+ bloody BM's/day with lots of lower back pain to an average of 5/day no bleeding no back pain and completely formed stools, still have severe urgency issues.
~~~~~~~~My bum is broken....there's a big crack down the middle of it! LOL :)~~~~~~~~
I get this feeling... like heavy in the bowels. Or rectal pressure. Mine seems to be all lower tho.
I can't imagine how uncomfortable it is to always feel like you have tmrw's poop already on deck!
We are definitely all much more in tune with our guts from this disease.
Well, I think I might have been backed up-even though I was pooping. Today I pooped four times and seems to have gone away. All poops were mostly formed...so, that's kind god...right?
Formed stool is good...once the rectal inflammation much less, you'll not feel as sensitive to the changing process.
Sounds normal with healing.
Are you taking the Metamucil capsules with meals?
I would second what quincy said. I was off pred for 2 months but could not get rid of that horrid feeling. Wish I had gone on meatamucil but took the ibd teams advice when feeling would not go away and took lactulose (laxative). Within a week of that blood was back now back on the dreaded pred (5mg going 2 x a day average).
Please take metamucil. Whether it is swelling/ inflammation or something else metamucil helps you keep regular and sweeps things up. I take the view that us uc'ers in the main do anything to keep from going to the loo so we are slow to react when it is better for us to keep thing moving along lol If you do start metamucil as quincy says with meals is best so you suffer less or no side effect and start with a low dose and build up each week to an optimum dose.
what kind of the powder..there are different formulas.
I'd suggest NOT one that's sugar-free.
I used to use the Metamucil smooth to start...NOT sugar-free.
If you drink juices, get the unflavoured regular one and mix it in a juice you like. Start with at least a quarter of what it suggests and after a meal...
I still take two metamucil caps with both lunch and dinner. I'm almost positive it's why my BMs are now mostly formed-ish.
