As some of you may remember, I decided to sell my McMansion and downsize. Well, it was listed for a day, we got a full price offer on the first day. They need a 45 day possession, so we're really under the gun to find a new place, pack, etc. My guts have been regressing as of late and this week, with all of this it's getting diarrhea-ey again. Sigh. So, I'm upping my meds and dipping in to my enema stash. I didn't realize that stress would have such a fast impact on my colon!
Meds:Asacol 1.6g/day Elavil 25mg/day. Salofalk supp, nightly. Supplements: Probiotic (ultimate flora 50billion) 4 Metamucil caps/day. Colonoscopy (dec2013)showed inflammation/ulcers 25-50cm area only, pathology didnt indicate ibd. flex sig (feb2014) chronic inflammation, rectum only. GI calling it indeterminate IBD. IBS-D for 10+ years, diagnosed by verbal symptoms only, questioning that now...

Well that is incredible! Congratulations! I guess it has its downside, with you needing to find a new place pronto... but after watching my brother try to sell his McMansion for months and months and months and finally have to take it off the market... well, I think your house selling in one day is great news!

Well if you absolutely had to you could move into an apartment for while to give you some breathing room. Of course that would probably mean two moves but you don't want to rush into a decision on buying the wrong home.

Thanks all! We're relieved it sold so quickly. The showings and having to be out of the house (and away from my bathroom) was a scary idea! So, that parts done. We've got a good idea what we want to buy, just need to make sure our possession date will work out. Short term rental in our area is near non existent, couple that with a 50 pound dog and were not hopeful on that working out! Worst case scenario we can put our things in storage and stay in our RV while we look. Not ideal, but it's ours and no problems keeping the darling dog with us tongue I'm making sure I'm getting lots of sleep in addition to upping the meds. I wasn't out of my first flare, so I guess it just worsened a bit...should be able to beat it back... BACK EVIL COLON!!! *jab jab*

Try VRBO or AirBnB for short term rentals. Somebody might just be out of town for a while.

I sold my old house quickly in 2012 and upgraded, its too much house so in a few years may try to cash out as we built new and put in yard, dozens of trees, stamped concrete patio bla bla bla - should be worth more now.

I heard houses around me sold in a day. What part of the country are you in ?

"I decided to sell my McMansion and downsize"

Maaaan, downsizing is for sissies. How are you going to flaunt the cash now if you downsized from the mansion. You needed to upsize to a castle and a Bentley.

If your house rich your cash poor so it becomes easier to flaunt it away from the house :)

Um, so maybe saying "McMansion" is giving you guys the wrong idea. I'm talking about a regular sized (1800 square foot) house...which we consider huge and unnecessary for two people and a poodle, thus a "McMansion". Surely "flaunting my wealth" is not what I'm talking about, but thanks for that rolleyes

On another note, my crappy colon seems to be responding to more meds. Had a better day today smilewinkgrin

I wouldn't worry people like to twist things....My house is HUGE, yes folks its frigging HUGE, but I don't have any medical insurance, and my husband and I live from paycheck to paycheck, we hit hard times, my husband was out of work for a long time, which is why I want to sell my house too, it would take the pressure off, and give us some hard earned cash to put back into the bank, also I worry that If things go wrong for me we don't have any cash reserves...so here's hoping we get lucky this year selling our house too!

Good luck to you poppie. I completely understand what you mean about selling the house and putting some money back in the bank. Sometimes priorities change, things happen, it's better to admit it, change it and move on. We feel that having a small home will relieve a lot of time/money constraints for us.

Good to hear you're having a feeling-better day!
I like the McMansion term..lol....interestingly, some would consider your house as downsizing.

All a matter of perspective. Keep us posted on your house-hunt.

Thanks, Q! Yes, seems like the guts are calming down, thank god for rectal meds!!!! tongue Yeah, loads of people would downsize to my current size of house, you're very right, all personal perspective. Hope your guts are stabilizing after all of your stress :-)

Haha! I went up from 960 sq ft to 4,000 sq ft after the 'Extreme Alimony' ended. It is just two people, myself and my daughter and no poodle :)

Helped my daughter with her science project today laid out all over the 'King Arthur' table I put in for family dinners. Thing is enormous. I remind her to enjoy it while it lasts because if I get tired of cleaning this place I might just sell it and do the opposite to save for retirement. With UC and the crazy health issues the last 8 years not entirely sold on the idea that I will live as long as my parents and need a retirement.

Frankly - after my week in the ICU with paralysis I decided to live RIGHT NOW as you cannot bank on tomorrow coming.

We are really enjoying the great room with fireplace and 70 inch TV, running out of terrific movies to watch, and the last house had no decent place to watch movies together and no fireplace.
