What does it mean when you have two completely separate colors of stool. It looks like 2 different colors of playdough pressed together? ONe side darker brown and one side more yellowish brown? I take Ultra Inflammix which is very yellow but I don't usually get this.

Also can you have IBS without it being a uc flare?

if there's no blood in the stool, i think it's most probably due to the things you've been eating, f.e. spinach (dark), sweet potatoes (orange), try to remember what you have been eating recently, if your medicine is yellow i'm sure this may be the reason as well, i don't think it's anything to worry about.

Doesnt sound worrisome to me either.
maybe a yellowish bit of stool from taking your meds hung around and gathered up with some stool from lunch. And together... they made funny poop :D

As for IBS ... there are a lot of people who report having both. And sometimes more IBS like symptoms but not a flare.
that's a big thing up for debate in the IBD community I think tho...

I've had two-toned, don't think it means anything, it's happened many times over the 23 yrs of me being sick.
bee propolis caps 500mg one cap twice/day
omegas 369 caps one cap twice/day
probiotics 10 billion cfu once/day
vitamins C-calcium ascorbate (easy on the gut) and vitamin A each once/day
Prodiem fibre supplement one cap before bed
I've also altered my diet (no junky stuff at all, processed, fast-foods, refined sugars, ect) and exercise regularly.
I went from 30+ bloody BM's/day with lots of lower back pain to an average of 5/day no bleeding no back pain and completely formed stools, still have severe urgency issues.
~~~~~~~~My bum is broken....there's a big crack down the middle of it! LOL :)~~~~~~~~
I wouldn't worry about the two toned stool.
And yes to the ibs symptoms when not in a UC flare.
my fave!!!
It's from what you eat, especially if it's something you've eaten in more excess or separate from a meal (which tends to get mixed up all together).
Or even in part of a meal you had the day before that's created slower moving stool through the colon and is met up by another foodstuff stool that moves through slower.
It could also depend on if/when you take fibre supplements..that could be lighter/fluffier.
I get it on occasion, especially if I have a meal with darker/heavier foods compared to lighter foods/snack stuff.
I think meats are digested much slower compared to veggies/salads/chocolate/some carb-type fluffier foods.
Oh, if you have iron supplements or maybe protein supplements, that can affect it as well as the probiotics that could change the activity to slower/faster.
