Whats the verdict on Psyllium Husks?

I'm seeing some nice improvement. Mixing one with a cup of water in the evening before bed.
I've read on here that Psyllium seed is suggested instead. Does it matter?
Currently on Uceris 9mg every other other day, started 9/15
L-Glutamine Powder 1,000 mg every day
Rutin 1 tsp every day

SCD Diet for the past 5 months with 24 hour yogurt
GI Pro Health SCDophilus 20 billion daily

Started FMT 7/30/15
Have done about 25 infusions with varying success, but it may have been the Uceris kicking in.

Started spinach and sunflower seed diet 10/27
1 semi formed bm/day

I've never tried psyllium seed..."better" is subjective.

Try it and make your own decision based on experience.

Psyllium husk has both soluble than insoluble fibre...

found this on psyllium seed....it has more nutrients than husk.

I have used both, and in fact still do. I find the husk is better at bulking my stool, but the seed powder is better when I am flaring. I can't tolerate the husk at all if I am bleeding.

Psyllium Husks will bulk up your stools to an extent (they won't turn diarrhea into a solid) and that extra firmness can slightly reduce urgency and slightly reduce frequency.

Psyllium Husks are abrasive and can be a really bad idea if you're flaring badly, I did that once and will never again; talk about discomfort! Inflammation thickens the intestinal wall and leaves less room for stool, and is raw/sore, add abrasive thick poops and... Well you get the idea.

I've never tried the crushed seeds, seem much, much harder to obtain and more expensive. I'd rather just buy Metamucil.

Thanks for the replies

Yes, by better I mean stools are much more solid. I'm currently not flaring badly, so I think this is a good idea. I looked up some psylliums seed say and it's actually not too expensive. I followed the link I found on another site, I will try to post it in a few moments. Only about eight dollars plus shipping for a pound.

Ipoop is that psylliums husk as well?

Love Pysllium husks. I mix it into my oat meal. I take it about 3 times a week. I do have to ease off it in a flare. Metamucil is the same thing but I prefer to not get all those chemicals.
Diagnosed with UC in 2013. Had 3 month remission period on Asacol before it stopped working.

Past medications: Asacol HD 800mg, Pred, Uceris, Imuran
Current: Remicade, Canasa
Aloe Vera Enemas
Gluten Free low carb diet
Turmeric, VitD, Fish Oil, Grape Seed Extract, Adrenal Fatigue, L-Theanine, D-Mannose, Q-Zyme Ultra, Marshmellow Root,VSL #3
Hope. Lots of Hope

In my experience the seed powder is far, far, far better - give it a go.

I take it during a flare....have for over 10 years.
The trick is to deal with flares earliest symptoms. What meds are you using...and what probiotics?

I take both at different times during flares. Per IAC's tip and my own twist, I mix husk, blueberry and colostrum after breakfast. Last thing at night after a glass of my awesome tea heh I mix potato starch, psyllium seed, VSL3 and colostrum and glug, no better word to describe it, all the contents down.
In remission with flaxseed/yoghurt, coffee, vitamins, green propolis, colostrum, l-glutamine, psyllium seed (periodically), org sourdough spelt bread (no yeast/soy), org butter, modified Low Fodmap diet, FMT (10 inf 2014), probiotics, digestive enzymes, pineapple, sauerkraut, jiaogulan/sarsaparilla tea, avoid processed food, not keeping feelings locked, reading, thanking God.
