Hey guys
Well i dont know whats happening but I started flaring. Just yesterday i started drinking Ensure for some vitamins and minerals seeing how i dont eat at all anymore. Yesterday was fine. But today i started going to the bathroom and my anus was burning and itching like crazy. I called an hour before work and cancelled i hope i dont get fired because ive been doing it alot. Last night i started getting a lot of gas but when the gas started coming out my anus was burning. The gas was so warmAnd i didnt sleep much of the night. Also like i get an urgency for a bowl movement i also get it to urinate.
And i saw BLOOD on the toilette paper for the first time. I didnt see any blood in the stool. But my bowl movement was very dark but it wasnt black. The other day my bowl movement was half dark and the other half pale. So that means it was really dark brown on one side and light brown on the other side. Also right now im feeling my body pinching itself like its eating itself in the legs...ass..shoulders...chest.... what is this ?? i dont feel hungry at all at this time.
Right now my ass is burning sitting on my chair. And when i walk it burns even more. I went for a little walk for 30 minutes. I also started feeling like throwing up a little bit. Im drinking Gatorade Rain right now. Seeing how water if i drink that it makes me worse.
I have a Gi appointment tomorrow but i know he will tell me its normal like the other times and dismiss me and see me in a month or two.
But what really worries me is the burning and itching and the blood on the toilette paper. I also had a little bit of diarrea. It wasnt watery but it was all broken up all dark.
I guess im gonna have to find sugar free peanut butter and start eating it for my weight.
Diagnosed with: Chronic Colitis in March 2007
Asacol twice in the morning and twice at night stopped taking it because i was feeling worse
Tests done so far: Tested for parasites and occult blood came back negative: Barium liquid swallow everything was normal: CT scan came back normal: Fecal fat test 72 hours came back normal: Colonoscopy with biopsy turns out i have chronic colitis: Got blood test to test if I have Crohns or UC and both came back negative.
Was given a course of Flagly before colonoscopy and it worked but a month later everything started coming back.
Currently trying a mix of chinese herbs for 2 months now...my energy is back.
Currently 95 pounds. I was 120 pounds a year and a half ago.

It sounds to me like you have a hemmeroid. Have you taken a mirror and looked down there? Have you tried Preperation H (hydrocortisone) suppositories yet? That might be also where your bleeding is coming from. Also to help alleviate the burn and itch is to either sit in a sitz bath or take a warm bath.

Hey Red_34
Sorry to ask but what am i suppose to look for to know that i have a hemmeroid. And no i havnt tried anything yet because i have never experienced this. Usually i experience the itching and burning but never any blood.
But thanks so much for your response.

You take the mirror and looked around your rectum. If you have an external hemmeroid, it will look like a small or large pulpy piece of skin maybe even with blood vessels. Usually a little red if it's inflammed. If it's internal, you may or may not see it with a mirror. You can try to spread your butt cheeks a little to get a closer look - a little gross I know but hey, it's what we have to deal with! lol
Another possibility is that it's just a flare in the rectal area but the intense itching and burning sounds more like a hemmie. You can also try Tucks medicated pads to wipe the rectal area to ease some of the discomfort.

I don't know if Ensure caused your problem, but I do know that I will never drink it. I checked it's ingredients and it's packed with a lot of stuff that are illegal on the SCD diet plan. It contains things like sugar, corn syrup, soy Lecithin, milk protein concentrate, and carrageenan (which is high in polysaccharides -- sugar).
It's kind of like a cocktail of death for some UC sufferers...I usually drink Apple Cider or Motts Apple juice, both are made from 100% apple juice. For minerals/vitamins, I take supplements...for weight I consume some starches but in reduced amounts, scrambled eggs with organic turkey sausages thrown in. I either make almond flour
cookies or I buy them from SCDBakery.com.
Why not experiment by eating some starches (a little rice or spaghetti) and see how you tolerate it? Gradually, expand your diet as you discover what works and what doesn't. You need to eat because drinking things like Ensure on an empty stomach WILL give you gas and if you keep passing gas, it can irritate hemmorhoids.
ps.
I almost forgot, if you do have a hemmorhoid I'd like to recommend one of the following products that worked well for me:
1. Neo Healar (has a minty scent to it)
2. Zen Med Hemorrhoidal Cream

your symptoms sound to me like a hemroid. I would definitely NOT panic yet, as they can definitely be the source of the blood. Look around, but even if you don't see anything, you could still have a hem. because there are 2 types - internal and external, and you can't see the internal ones. My guess, given that you have itching, is that they are external, in which case you should see something, but you could also have internal ones at the same time. I am actually currently on 5 days of a suppositories for internal hemroids. I was bleeding a lot, actually, and my GI said we should try an internal hem. as the first explanation, and he was totally right. so don't worry yet. see if you can get your doc to write a script
for hem meds, and give it a few days. if still bleeding after that, then consider UC. at least, that's my own opinion on it. I hope you feel better soon. as for ensure, I personally am a big believer in it during a flare. It is the only thing I could keep down during my last flare. feel better.
29/Female/NC
Pancolitis dx 3/07.
Flare treated w/ 40mg Pred for 2 weeks, then 10 weeks of taper at 5mg per week (stayed at 5mg for awhile. Last day of prednisone was June 3, 2007, at 2.5 mg)
Currently on 9 Asacol a day (will hopefully drop to 6 once once I have been off prednisone awhile).
Various vitamins, probiotics, fish oil.
Got engaged on June 1, 2007.

Just from my experience i agree with everyone that it sounds like hemrroids. i have had them for about
8 mths. it also sounds like it may be an internal one as external youd likely feel it. i have blood on the tp almost daily. it scares you a bit cause you think it may be from the ulcers but its the hemrroid. its usually bright red blood, very fresh looking if you will. sitz bath or just a regular bath in the evening after a long day helps tremendously.

- Completed Prednisone taper on 4/13/07 - Tapered from early January through mid-April after being hospitalized from a bad flare. So far so good. Was second major flare.

is the blood on the toilet paper BRIGHT cherry red? if so, probably a hemorroid or an anal fissure (those hurt, bleed, and itch-- fun!). I remember when I was diagnosed with UC, the doc asked me if I'd ever had any of them. I said 'no' and he said 'you will now.' Ha. hilarious. jerk.
btw, don't drink ensure. and don't drink gatorade straight. Those are two insanely sugary drinks that are bad news for a flaring UC colon. they will give you D, they will give you gas, and both of those will give you PAIN and urgency.
Dx:
Left-sided UC, Jun 2005. Flex-sig only... clear for first 20cms, then inflamed through next 30cms.
Therapies:
Pharmaceutical: Pentasa 3G/day, hydrocort 1x every 7 days
Probiotics: Acidophilus Pearls, Primadophilus Bifidus
Naturals: Caprylic Acid, Methylated B-12, Vit ACDE, Zinc (w/copper), Selenium, Turmeric, Bromelain, Luteolin
Killer Foods: Soda, Fried Food (especially french fries!), Beer, Red Wine, Pepperoncinis
