Has anyone taken magnesium supplements and noticed a big improvement in their SVT episodes?
I have contemplating trying them but if I don't get any positive feedback, I won't bother.  I also don't know which kind to try.  I've read Magnesium Oxide doesn't absorb into the body as well as Magnesium Gluconate or Magonate (the liquid form). I am tired of dealing with the SVT but am too afraid to have an ablation done. I'd appreciate any info you can give me. Thanks!

Hi Disco lady,  I would strongly suggest you pose this question to your cardiologist.  Even taking supplements can be extremely harmful to your body not to mention adding in having arrhythmias on top of that.  Please be cautious.

Hi discoLady-

Both of my cardiologists (In Philly & Beverly Hills CA.)--tell me taking mega doses of Magnesium....will NOT hurt & may help!  (One well known..cadiologist in Beverly Hills--from my home town in Philly--& has written many books...swears by them)

But--You do have to take a significant amt.-the only side effect is a slightly laxitive effect!   No big price to pay--for lessining these SVTs... & I HAVE noticed it helps me!

There was a Vitamin Co.(Schiffs)  that made a 500 mg tablet--but they do longer do--I buy the TWINLAB    Magnesium caps...400 mg....which are easlily absorbed...since they are capsule..rather than hard tablets!  I take..3 a day  1.2 cardio--says I COULD take up to 5 a day.....2 grams...but...I don;t want to be in the bathrom too much!

Anyway---Discolady--   Hope this helps. must take at leat over a gram.....This is what the cardiologist told me.....& i'm just quoting him!   He's an "electrophysiologist"..& knows his stuff!   A small one capsule/daily--will not help.

Again..i take 3 capsules.....& i notice a small improvment! (IF i stop..i can tell)--The OTHER thing that helps are the "Omega Three & Omega six..gels  (Fish oil)-but I buy the top of the line brand--expensive';re getting the right amt of the Omega 3s & 6s...I take ResQ150....4 capsules a day...their we site i to order is       again..expensive--but effective

Primarily they are sold to lower's been found they help w electrical conduction in the heart.     My cousin takes them for cholesterol......& his numbers went WAY down!    They also have "anti inflammatory qualities!   You can take between 4-6 a day.  I've been having some increae in my SVTs..(short runs...4 or 5 beats...lasting maybe...5 or 6 seconds at most & many PACs...

Anyway--hope this helps!  Taking both--should help-lessen the amt of SVTs..feel free to e-mail me...for other info--regards---Wotan    Wotan (Robert)
