Wondering if anyone has any experience with a hematoma in the thigh after cardiac ablation. It's almost 3 weeks now and still really sore. Any idea how long it takes to heal?

Not too sure what all is involved with a C.A. but I've had many heart caths in the thigh/groin area and have never had one hurt more then a few days. I'd go talk to your doctor about it if it's still hurting after that long.

I've had a large hematoma, not that location, last over a month and then leave an iron deposit which looked likr the hematoma was still there. I had pain for about 4 weeks with it too.

The size of the hematoma can be the thing that causes it to remain long, but as FD said, check with your doctor.

I had a groin hematoma from a stent procedure once, because all he did to close the artery was to have a nurse put pressure on it for a while. I went to a different doctor for my second stent. He used a little machine to put a couple of stitches in the artery. Snick, snick! No pressure needed, no hematoma, no pain. It takes training and practice to use the machine and not all docs do it. I will definitely ask if I need anything like that again.

Hi, im a new member here and i also experience the same thing. I did my cardiac catheterization to close my PFO 9 days ago and i have this blinding pain around my inner thigh and groin area. Yes i do have a very large black blue bruise and swelling around that area. What concerned me is it normal to be in so much pain even after a little more than a week postcath? The bruises are now gradually faded away thanks to thrombophob gel and hirudoid cream. However the swelling and the pain is not getting better. Is taking aspirin daily has any affect on my slow recovery? Please help, im so scared that i wont be able to walk again!
