Hi,

Can someone tell me what the difference is between Nexium and Zegerid?   I've been on Nexum for the last 4 months and now my GERD is making me nauseous (at least that is what my doctor tells me).  I'm wondering if maybe I should change to Zegerid as I've been reading good reviews on it.    Has anyone out there used both?   I've been on Prevacid and that was why I was changed to Nexium.

Thanks.

I have used both.  For symptom management zegerid is better.  It contains sodium bicarbonate - which I think  is the main difference.  This is basically baking soda.  For me, zegerid caused horrific bubbling stomach with gas.  Drink baking soda in a glass of water and if it effects you negatively (it does for me!) zegerid may do the same thing.  Everyone is different though so you should probably try it on your own.

Lucy, thank you for sharing your experience...and you are so right, everyone is different. What works for me, may not work for the next guy. When it comes to meds, it is often a hit and miss game.

Wishing you guys the best!
