I'm looking at having most of my teeth capped as a result of GERD; has anyone had any success submitting a claim to their health insurance company for this sort of thing and how did you go about it?
thank you all.

I have not had any success even getting my health insurance to pay for a oral surgeon to exract a fractured tooth.  Only dental insurance would have covered my oral surgeon.

So I would guess it would probably be dental insurance for the problem you have described.

Take care,

Kitt

Hi, Rick,
I know insurances are extremely reluctant to cover dental costs even when they're related to a medical condition. I'd suggest reading your policy closely, and maybe talking with your dentist. Sometimes it can all be in how they code the procedure; as well, I'd expect an initial denial, but if your dentist is willing to help you pursue it, it's worth a shot. You'd probably have to get your doctor and dentist to both state that the tooth problems were caused by GERD. And read the fine print in your policy about appeals.

Good luck!
