I posted about this question here: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AmaksyYAIXRqWQKrG1BN8b7sy6IX;_ylv=3?qid=20111209230550AAZfBZq

but nobody answers confused

Anyway, I meant what I said in that question. I suddenly got the pain on my back lower right rib cage. I put some ointment and I feel a lot better, but it never go away. Its been 2 weeks already and Im freaking out. I have Taekwondo classes and I dont know if training or exercising make the pain much more worst.

I went to doctor, he said my lower rib cage injured. He gave some pain killer but I never want to swallow that because I have phobia with swallowing pills. I can only take medicine in liquid forms (which actually sucks).

The pain starts to attack my muscle around my back right lower rib cage and also on the side of the right rib cage.

I tried to do some research on internet as no one can answer my question. And now Im confused if this is one of the sign of kidney disease symptoms or my Latissimus Dorsi muscle actually hurt too. I dont see any changes when I urinated, I dont have fever neither do I have fatigue. confused

Is it normal that it attack your muscle too? What can I do to prevent any harmful disease or what should I do to heal the pain? Please help!

I know absolutely nothing about this but I'm suffering from a similiar pain on my right side only.  Have you thought about shingles?  I don't know if this is my issue or not.

Shingles is kinda like a skin disease with one side pain, right? I dont have any shingles or anything that seems to be like that. And the pain still haven't gone till now. Im kinda worried. How long have you been suffering from this pain, cdgnirose?

I just got back from hospital and they've done a blood and urine test. Everything turned out to be normal. They gave me ointment, Paracetamol and also Potassium Citrate. My blood was a little bit thick, but result shows no infection or viruses. I hope the pain will goes away after eating medicine and applying the ointment.. I really hope I can get rid of this pain, its very disturbing.

That was such a relief! Phew~

Have you done any kind of test, cdgnirose?

I haven't done any testing.  I'm not sure if it is a pulled muscle or shingles.  I don't have any kind of rash.  It's only on one side and it started the day after Thanksgiving.  (Did I carry something and pull a muscle?)  Is the stress causing a shingles outbreak?  I don't know these answers.

I live overseas and getting tested is sometime hard.  Rig ht now, it is my daughter suffering for GERD, and I just don't have energy to demand testing for myself.  I have started getting massages now to see if that helps.

It is painful but I don't know what to do.  I'll be at Children's hospital for her treatment in two weeks. So, if it is still going on,  I'll make an appointment with some doctor in the States.

Aww.. Im sorry for your daughter, I hope she'll get well soon. Yeah, I think you should make appointment with doctor. Even with the Medical Assistant, they look very serious when it comes to abdominal area O_o

You don't get shingles without a rash - little blisters like chicken pox (same virus) and intensely itchy.

If the pain is musculoskeletal it will be relieved by rest, heat and painkillers. A chiropractor or osteopath may also be able to give quick relief, if you can fund a couple of sessions.

I had pain around that area, but I knew it was muscular because holding an umbrella up in the rain was agony, so also drying my hair!! It took a couple of weeks to settle, and my osteopath helped a lot.

I have pain across my rib cage but the back and both sides, I have had it a year, its gotten to the point I cant get out of bed in the morning without it feeling like all the muscles are pulled, I have fibromyalgia as well and am wondering if they are related. I have no reason to have this rib cage back pain. I have never asked a doctor about it, but it sounds the same as yours.

Sounds muscular to me. I was in a bad car accident in 2010 and had similar issues and still have lingering pain in my back and rib cage and hips.
I find that a good magnesium and potassium supplement and a massage therapist along with daily yoga is the best cure! I wish you luck!
