Anyone else expereicne this?  Weird thing is I get it a lot when I wake up in the morning...after obviously not eating for 8 or more hours?   I sleep fine....this reflux takes a break?  Why are days so awful...burping, pain, etc.... yet it all goes away while I sleep.  May be a really stupid question but I am so frustrated and ready for answers.  Would go to the doctors but they get that deer in the headlight look!!

Oh and is this stuff giving anyone else really really really bad breath?  My doc seemed in awe of that one too.  He said bad breath comes from foods we eat.

I have the feeling of something being stuck in my throat all the time.  My Dr told me that the acid reflux can cause bad breath.  My mouth taste nasty all the time.  I coule brush my teeth 20 times a day but the problem is in my esophagas and stomach.  You cant brush them very well so its something i have to deal with.

I get the same feeling when the acid reflux is bad. It's sort of scary since I first discovered I had silent acid reflux almost 7 years ago when I choked on something. An endoscopy discovered my esophagus was severly strictured. Since I started feeling the acid reflux this summer I haven't had any problems with choking. I had an endoscopic exam in September and there was a small stricture that was dilated. The feeling is not due to choking. I sometimes feel like food is coming back up but I have never had any food actually come up, so I suspect it's just irritation.

I can't explain why your pain goes away when you sleep. I sometimes feel it during the night and typically wake up more than once during the night. I suspect it's due to reflux.

I have Gerd and have lump in my throat feeling, tightness in my throat, heavy feeling on my chest and shortness of breath.  Am on nexium 40mgs. once a day and was also prescribed clonazepam 0.5 mgs. 3 times a day.  It is a benzodiazepam which can be addictive but I haven't had any problems with it but it only helps sometimes.  I find when i take one before i go to bed it helps a little when i wake up but then it's back again.  I think I'd need to take one an hour.....haha.  Don't think I can do that though.  I don't have the heartburn anymore just the irritation.  I think my symptoms are more LPR related.  Can surgery help with this????? eyes    Discouraged in Canada
