Feels like I've been punched in the gut

I was diagnosed with GERD about two months ago. At one time the doctor had also said something about a hiatal hernia but she never wrote it on a diagnosis sheet.

Sorry, I wanted to add that it isn't a constant pain. It seems to come and go but I'm not sure what brings it on. It often hurts quite badly when I'm laying down and can be very hard to get comfortable.

My health conditions and meds are in my signature but for some reason my sig isn't showing up so I'll list them for you, just in case that helps:
Asthma (Pulmicort, Alburoral)
Allergies (Allegra)
GERD (Prilosec)
Hypothyroid (no meds yet)

As for your signature, do you have the box checked for your signature to show up?

As for you condition...has she thought about gallbladder? Do you have any other symptoms?

I have GERD and esphogitis, I take zegerid both morning and night. When I have been "naughty" and taken advil or asprin which I'm not supposed to do or eat foods that irritate my gut I feel exactly like I've been punched in the stomach or I've swallowed a bottle of acid. You're "punched" in the stomach phrase hit home with me because I use the same wording when my stomach is bugging me. It usually goes away after a couple of days of a bland diet, at least for me.
