Anyone have any experiece with lumbar facet anthropathy?  I was told my a doctor that this is the reason I have a sharp pain shoot down the inside of my thigh and my leg gives out when I turn a certain way.  Just wondering if this can get worse, or does it come and go, etc.

Thanks!

Vannie, I have facet arthropathy. Mine is likely from degeneration due to osteoarthritis. I'm older and this is becomes more common as we age. Mine has gotten better after i attended physical therapy and learned strengthening exercises for my abdominal muscles. This helped. The therapist also evaluated my posture and walking. Shew gave me recommendations to improve these and that helped. I make sure to do proper stretching each morning too.

Here's a link that gives good info: http://www.back.com/causes-mechanical-facet.html

Thank you, Ides! I will check out that website.

If my memory serves me well, you also have Erosive Inflammatory Osteoarthritis. I have that in my hands and in my feet. Do you take any medicine for your EOA that helps?

Thank you,

Hi, Ides,

I read the article you had linked in your reply. It says that LFA rarely causes pain down the buttocks or the leg unless it is advanced and there are spurs. I guess mineis adanced...must be something pressing on a nerve when I get in a certain position. Thanks fo much for the link.
