This is not really OA related but I thought I would post here because I assume that cortisone injections can be used for OA? I have a cyst that has returned to my tendon sheath of my right pinky. I had it drained a few years ago and it came back but smaller and harder. So I went to the family doc yesterday where she injected it with cortisone with lidocaine (little below the base of pinky on the meat of the hand). I've had numerous cortisone shots over the years in different fingers and I have never had the numbness last more than 12 hours. But this shot I had yesterday morning at 11am and I still have numbness half way down my finger. Is this normal or should I be concerned? Perhaps give it another day to see if the numbness goes?

Sounds like it hit a nerve. I'd call the doctor and tell him what happened.

Thanks Joy. I kind of figured it hit a nerve so I started reading up on numbness after a cortisone shot on Google. It seems that it's somewhat common for the finger(s) to stay numb for a few days especially if a nerve is hit. My finger is still numb almost 36 hours later but I am starting to get some tingling in it and I can feel pressure again. I really hope it eases up soon because it is a pain in the tush! lol
